Just installed Easy discuss v4.0.15

Trying to use migrator to bring over a vbulletin forum, the prefix for our tables is vb_ but nowhere do I see it ask for the database name (testxxxxvb)

When it asks for prefix I have tried both "vb_" and "testxxxxvb.vb_" to which I get the message "VBulletin table not found." the login for the test website also has access to both Joomla and vbulletin databases.

I do not see any further information in the documentation on the vbulletin migrator.

Any ideas what I can try?

Sorry but this test site is sand boxed from the rest of the world so direct access would not be easily possible at this time.

Thank you for your help!
Hey Richard,

May i know your current Vbulletin table is it already move into your current Joomla root database?

If yes, by right, it should able to find the database based on you submit that vbulletin table prefix.

May i know your vbulletin table is it got contain this table ? vb_thread

It would be best if you can temporary upload your test site to live, so we can able to check on this.

Thanks for your reply,

The vbulletin tables are in their own database, for this to work should I move the needed vbulletin tables to the Joomla database? That would make sense.

Would I need all vbulletin tables or a subset of them to be in the Joomla database. Can try this in my tomorrow morning (we are 12 hours apart )

I cannot shut down live for your checking but will see if I can get you access to the test site.

Again thanks for your help so far!

Yes, you should do the full backup on your vbulletin all the table then move one of the copy (contain all vbulletin tables) into your Joomla database, because it can't detect your vbulletin table from another database.

Yes, it would be best is try this tomorrow morning and move all the vbulletin table into Joomla database.

By the way, can i ask 1 question?

May i know do you have sync your vBulletin user to your Joomla user yet? Because our migrator only migrate all of your vbulletin categories and posts only.

The current link between the two is based on their email address, not user id. We are using a very old bridge that keeps the two sides linked via a userid cross link table which maps the Joomla user ID to the vbulletin userid. This bridge will not work in our move to Joomla 3.x which is why I am testing other options.

Does the migration assume both sides are using a common equal user id? I should be able to force the vbulletin userid to match the Joomla I'd if needed. Happy to experiment as needed.

Again thanks for the additional information.

You're welcome.

Actually the migration will look for the vb `username` whether match with Joomla username, if that is match, it will use the Joomla user id store into Easydiscuss table who created those topics or replies.
