Hi everybody,

from time to time users create new accounts instead of using theire old ones.
I would love to see a "merge"-feature for user-accounts.

This should (!) be possible for the user himself:
A button in his profile-settings "merge this account with another one"
When he clicks on it, he can enter the username and password of the other account.

When he confirms, all data of the "other" account will be transfered into the active one and the "old" one will be blocked.

A problem could be the connections of other extensions (EasyBlog, Alphauserpoints, Kunena, DT-Register,...). Maybe there could be a solution to get that together? Users with multiple accounts will get a bigger problem with the website growing ...

Is it possilbe to somehow think about a sollution?

All the best, Ju lian!
Hey there,

I am really sorry but unfortunately right now this would not be possible and I don't see an "easy way" out of this right now

There is a lot more complications rather than transferring the "other" account to the "active" one.

Hi Mark,

I believe it is a very complex work, but however, maybe this is a good Idea for a new company and a new extension. I could imagine this might be an urgend neccecary extension for some communites.

But I see it makes no real sense for Stackideas to get into that topic.

All the best, Julian!

Hey Julian,

Thanks for the input! The merge accounts is a great idea, especially when you want to transfer the user account from one extension to another. However it will take a significant effort, one that we are not able to provide at the moment due to other planned priorities.

Still, you could post your suggestion at the Voices section for our reference in the future.

Have a good day!
