Hm, not entirely sure if I understand you here. There is actually a menu layout for video category as you can see from my screen shot below. Am I missing anything here?

yes i know. I'll try to explain better :

Menu example :
Videos
/_ category 1
/_ category 2
/_subcategory 2.a
/_subcategory 2.b
/_ category 3

i can create category... subcat... no problem
The thing i can't create is the 1st level for "Videos" (all the categories) in my example

and this is possible for events and for groups...
and for good SEO it'is important because in my example, "Videos" menu alias will be used in url and i can't do anything well with the joomla "external url menu type"

What do you thing ?

Hm, sorry but I still don't understand you here. You can create a menu item that links to the "Videos" layout just like "Groups" and "Events". What is the difference between video and groups? Can you please elaborate more with screen shots please?

for the moment, to achieve that i had to use "extern url menu type" :

so no highlighting of the used menu...

I can't use the "menu layout for video category" for the first level of my menu called "vidéos" as you recommend me because it ask to select a category...

In groups there is a menu link to "all groups in the site"

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Regarding to your inquiry, you can make the Video menus assignation same as the Groups that you have already made by:
1. Click Menus->Menu Principal

In my "french language" menu i only have 2 types for vidéos !! category or single video
the "all videos from the site" menu type is missing !!!!

can you check or recommend me to do something ?

using english as admin language, i succeed in creating the menu link
but still impossible - no menu type - with french as admin language...
