Hello,

We have a joomla geust-member logged in counter on the site.
It seems however that the member's count never agree with what ES shows online.

For instance, the joomla counter shows 6 members online while ES shows only 3 ?

Thanks
S.
Hi B.M,

May I know where you refer this to? Is it in the 'online friend' widget here https://www.screencast.com/t/9DbSwG4A4SY ?
Can you provide us some screenshots so we can replicate it correctly

Will Mark resolved this for now, perhaps I will re-opening it at a later time. (issue still exists, i suspect joomla handles sessiosn differently than ES)

Hello,

This is actually a long standing issue with Joomla especially when the sessions are configured to be stored on the database and there are caching involved. You will notice the same issue with the counter in Joomla's administration versus your Google analytics real time report.

Yes that is exactly the case. I remember this issue back from Joomla 1.0 (or even Mambo!).
I cannot believe they still haven't addressed this.

Do you suggest to use a certain setup? (maybe not database storage for sessions ?)

Thanks !

To be honest with you, I think the whole fiasco about this isn't really about sessions management but rather the cache. Because from the way I look at things, the purpose that you really want to cache something is entirely because the page is static and doesn't change too often.

Things like this (counters etc), are bound to change by the second or the minute depending on how active your site is. I don't think there is any proper way to fix this
