Hello,

By wanting to limit the number of photos that can be published per day in a Group, I discovered a bug.

The ACL settings for Photos in Profile Types, Maximum photo upload per day are not taken into account for Groups, Pages and Events.

The ACL settings for Photos in the Groups categories, Total Daily Uploads Allowed defines the maximum number of photos per day by all users in the group.

I can't limit the number of photos published per day and per user, also on Groups, Pages and Events.

Thank you,
Philippe
Hi Philippe,

This is actually a correct behaviour as the profile ACL is meant for user action outside of the groups, pages, and events. For groups, pages, events, there will be a set of their own ACL rules that are independent of the user profile ACLs.

In this case, the ACL rule set for maximum photo upload per day in profile type will only affect photo upload on their own albums while ACL rule for maximum photo upload per day in a group will only be affecting that particular group for all users.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Ezrul,

Oh It is very problematic.
Because I would like to buy a PayPlans license precisely to offer members ships with different limits, including the number of photos sent per day and per user (including in Groups).

Does your new setting to restrict storage size of users work for Groups ?

Hi Philippe,

Currently storage size limit will work globally across ES.

Thank you Ezrul.

This is good news, but I don't understand the logic
Because in your previous message you indicated :
This is actually a correct behaviour as the profile ACL is meant for user action outside of the groups, pages, and events. For groups, pages, events, there will be a set of their own ACL rules that are independent of the user profile ACLs.

This proves that the ACL settings of the User Profile Types can also affect the ACL of a Group.

If the "Maximum storage size for media" setting of the User Profile Types also works in Groups, why not "Maximum photo upload per day" ?

This Group ACL rule should be able to be combined with the Profile Type ACL rule, no ?
This is not incompatible with the ACL setting of the category of a Group "Total Daily Uploads Allowed".

And for example for this setting we could have :
Profile Type Free ACL; Photos ; Maximum photo upload per day (Limited 10 photos)
In a Group, if the user has reached his daily limit photos upload :

Sorry, you have reached your total daily photo upload limit of 10 photos per day.

You can see my captures in attachments.
Thank you,
Philippe

Hi Philippe,

I am sorry for the confusion here. This is true if the ACL does exist on both profile type and groups. However, since the storage limit ACL doesn't exist on the group, and if the ACL is meant to be sitewide, this ACL will affect globally including groups, pages, and events.

Hope these clear things up.

We are indeed facing a technical constraint.
I just touched on a similar topic with Mark here :
https://stackideas.com/forums/easysocial-pages-permissions-depending-on-profile-acl-and-payplans

The ACL rules for a User should be combined with the collective ACL rules of a Group or a Page.

Thank you for your concern, Philippe. It will be best if you could submit this into the Voices section and see what other people think about unifying some of the existing ACL setting.
