Hi there,

Is it possible to make content publicly viewable outside of the site through a url.

Currently even content for "everyone" is hidden behind a login barrier when the url is clicked.

Paula
Hi Paula,
Are you referring to the article 'Windows & Doors' from 'Everyone' feed?
If yes, I checked the article and it seems it has a menu item and the access is set to Registered(http://take.ms/tndGs). Whenever, menu items are set to Registered access, only registered users are able to view the menu item's page.
If you want to make that menu item public, just change the access level in the menu item and you should be good.
Hope this helped you understand the issue.

Hi Raymond,

No thats not what I mean.

Lets say for example, a registered site user makes a 200 word "status update" that is set to be visible to "everyone" (public) . Is it possible for a link to that content to then be shared to Facebook or twitter such that people who have never even heard of the site can click the link and see the 200 word post?

Hey Paula,
Yes it is possible to share EasySocial posts to Facebook or Twitter. However, you have to treat Facebook and Twitter as guest users. This means if a guest users is not able to access that page, Facebook or Twitter won't be able to access it either.

Example, for this link: yoursite.com/wheeconomics/stream/item/288
It seems wheeconomics menu item is set to registered access only, which means guest users won't be able to access this page. The same can be said even if you share this post on Facebook or Twitter.
If you want guest users from Facebook or Twitter to have the ability to access the page, you can set the access of wheeconomics menu item to Public.

Ok thanks, that makes sense.

Is it only adjustable globally or is it possible to make some content available to the public whilst other content is not?

Are you referring to the stream items?
If yes, when creating stream items, you can set the privacy at the bottom of the story panel(http://take.ms/VcvAk).
You can also set the privacy of already created stream items here(http://take.ms/HKRcs) if you want.

Yes Im talking about the stream items. However:

If I set the Easysocial menu to "registered" , is it possible for me then to somehow make ANY stream item I choose available to the general public. i.e. Facebook or twitter?

Unfortunately, if the menu item is set to 'Registered', it means only 'Registered' users can access the page, regardless whether there are any public stream items on the page.
