Hi

I wonder how easy/difficult it would be to make a copy like Patreon with EasyBlog + Payplans?

https://www.patreon.com

What you think?
Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

If you are looking to restrict the EasyBlog blog posts access to users who have active subscriptions, then this is already possible with PayPlans.

In PayPlans, you can setup 'EasyBlog Category Access Restriction' app so that only users who has the active subscription can access to blog posts associated with the categories configured in this app.

Or, if you require a paywall option to be displayed on the EasyBlog single post page where user can see a portion of introtext, provided the blog post has a readmore tag added, (please see attached image), then you can setup the 'Content ACL' app and configure in this app which EasyBlog's categories should applied with the access restriction.

Below are some of the demo on how this content acl app work:

Hope this help and have a nice day

Thanks Sam,

its not about restrictions for users to see post but for users that make blog posts to earn money.

So you mean its possible and that Payplans have commission based system similar like Patreon so it possible?

Sam did you check Patreon and understood how it work?

Hello,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Regarding the above, I apologise if I've mis-understood how Patreon work but from what I read on their website, I believe it does have some sort of access restriction to the contents / pages created by the blogger? What I mean is, visitors are required to subscribe to become a patreon of a blogger in order to access the contents created by the blogger?

As for bloggers to receive commissions / earn money by creating blog posts, I am sorry but currently PayPlans do not have such integration with EasyBlog.

Have a nice day

"I am sorry but currently PayPlans do not have such integration with EasyBlog."

Yes I understand and know that PayPlans/EB not have that features and thats why I try to get a discussion/analysis about how much interests there is to do something with new core important features that do something new for EB/PayPlans/Joomla community really.

I think EasyBlog must also take a new step, open up ears to let site owners smart monetize their content creation where they also can offer and also let users earn some money. If you cant innovate the business model yourself it would be good to analyse successful platforms like Patreon, Quara https://www.quora.com and what they do.

Take some small steps to copy cat and innovate to create something new.

What you think?

@ssnobben

This might be a good starting point for future development.
But of course this solution might not fit your environment at all...

Perhaps take the advantages of the points system and use them as a payment option
- Blogger has to pay to write blogs - PP subscription to allow writing blog posts
- Blogger receives point(s) when blog is accessed / reader looses point(s)
- Reader could also pay with points to access the full blog post - instead of "simply" loosing points when reading
- Blogger could pay his next or renewed "blogger subscription" with points earned

But there is still the issue for the site owner when the blogger wants exchange his points for money...

Hi,
A) Why not use a separate accounting system to pay out commissions to bloggers based on their number of subscribers? And just cut a monthly check... which is what I believe patreon does anyway.
or
B) Another could be to give front-end access to PayPlans to the bloggers to charge subscribers what they want. I like this option, but I would still want to handle accounting internally to take a % for being the venue unless you were charging the bloggers to post.

I am positive this can be done, but I doubt anyone is going to tell you EXACTLY how to do it here.
Your best bet would probably be to hire a professional for such a project.
