Ideally your cover should be the same width as the template (calculate padding accordingly). The cover height is usually around 1/3 of the actual image size, so you could save more bandwidth by cropping the photo down to 1/3 of the size. Anyways, attached to this post is the old cover from ES 1.3.30.

Hi Josh it's been a long time buddy I see you're still helping out the community kudos.... I really don't know what you meant in your reply but I just checked and my template is using a 1169x389 size cover photo and a lot of the premade cover photos I see when I google looking for them are 850x315. So are you saying based on my template that 850x315 is too small? I remember a while back the Stacked team gave us a hack to make the cover photo size taller but in this case i just want to make it smaller so i can use some of the premade cover photos i found without stretching them or having to find wallpapers and shrink them. I think that 850x315 is Facebooks cover photo size....

I shifted my focus towards identifying issues with ES 1.4, hence why I haven't posted much on the forums lately. I was down to a single hand (my non good one) for a while after my surgery. That didn't stop me from beta testing.

If your template is 1169px in width, yet the cover is 960px wide (the one attached above), it will technically be stretched. However it didn't look bad with the old cover photo due to it being a very simple design. Your original question above is:

Are you asking how to resize a photo in that exact size with ease? Or are you asking where you can apply an override so that the default cover you set stays upon upgrade?
