Hi,

I am using Wireframe theme on ED4 on my backup site but recognize that the category view looks totally different to the recent view.

No matter which theme I select at the backend, the category view does not change at all. But I want to have the same look all over the forums to make it fit to each other. How is this possible or is there no way around the category view?
This is actually the default behavior. Category view is not the recent view. Recent view contains a list of recent posts that are posted on the site.

Different layouts within a single template is wanted? To be honest, I do not understand the intention of having different layouts inside a forum, especially when it was working that way in ED3, where all pages had the same layout depending on the selected theme.

What are the differences between the themes depending on the category view when they all look the same and differ from the recent view? This looks like it is not done yet, because the recent view is influenced by the theme, but the category view always looks the same. And both are never looking the same, no matter which theme is selected...

To make it even worse, there is a third layout on this screen:

Ignore the arrow...

Hi

We are also looking for the old style of category view, that matched "recent view" on frontpage in V3.
Instead of just the title now, we need introtext etc. on each topic.

Hey Sabih,

Currently we only use one default layout for category view in Easydiscuss 4.

Hey Rasmus Bech - Opdag Verden,

We are also looking for the old style of category view, that matched "recent view" on frontpage in V3.
Instead of just the title now, we need introtext etc. on each topic.

It seems like we missed up this category description on show all category page, I will log this issue into our tracker and fix it in next release version.

Hey Arlex,

to be honest, I am shocked. A missing uniform design makes this unusable. I am using ED3 with all pages having the same look and after updating to ED4 I found at least 3 different layouts within a single theme. I had never expected that something like this would happen to a component and I have absolutely no clue what the intention was to do it this way. This is like wearing a blue shoe on the right and a green shoe on the left.

Is this going to be changed in next release or is this really well-thought-out and you are convinced that it is the best way to have at least 3 different layouts? Why do you think this was the best way to do it and what are the themes for when many pages ignore the selected theme?

Hi Sabih,

Thanks for the heads up regarding this one.

In EasyDiscuss 4.0, we wanted to incorporate the 'forums' elements into EasyDiscuss hence if you noticed, we introduced the new view called 'Forums'. Forums view are different from 'Recent' view where the posts are grouped by categories and its only display very minimum info about a post. This applied to category view since we only show posts belong to a category.

And for the themes, when you change the themes from EasyDiscuss backend, we actually carry the selected theme's styling into every pages in EasyDiscuss

Anyway, I will bring this matter to the development teams and we will see what is the best way to address this matter.

Hope this help and have a nice day!

Hey Sam,

actually I do not understand what you mean by that. No matter which theme I select, only the recent view styling is influenced by the theme. You can take a look at the links in my first post to see the difference. There is nothing carried to all pages...

Isn't there an easy way to adopt the styling of Recent view to all other pages? So to be able to have a sitewide uniform look which was in ED3 already there.

In EasyDiscuss 4.0, we wanted to incorporate the 'forums' elements into EasyDiscuss hence if you noticed, we introduced the new view called 'Forums'. In my opinion this should have been a theme, and therefor an option not a have to.

As a result, we can not do anything quick so I have to wait and stick with ED3 or break the uniform look of my site into a cheap looking site with different styles behind each link. I am sorry but probably you can understand my frustration when it gets worse than it was before. I can not even live on with the old theme, because that one got removed for whatever reason.

Hope this help and have a nice day!

I appreciate your detailed explanation and have a nice day too, Sam.

Hi Sabih,

Sorry i wasn't explained clear in my previous message. When I say styling, I mean the css styling e.g, the background color and etc. Yes, I do aware no matter what EasyDiscuss theme you selected, in forum category view page, all themes's the design look the same. But it carry the css styling based on the themes you've selected.

In my opinion this should have been a theme, and therefor an option not a have to.

Thanks for your suggestion, I will discuss again with the team and see how we can address this issue in a better way

Thank you for you patient and your understanding
Sam
