Hi everybody,

please excuse that I am posting that many support-issues in the moment. There are some strange behaviours in some ES-Modules, I couldn´t figure out how to solve them. As they are connected to the login they are a blocker to me right now. I really tested it for many hours ...

It´s all about two (joomla-) modules:
- ES-Toolbar
- ES-Dropdown-Menu

Bouth are activated as modules in the top-Position of my template. I don´t want to have the regular navbar because of space, that´s why I like to have the module in the top-right on all pages. That´s why I activated the navbar-module in the top-position but deactivated the dashboard-navbar inside of ES. The navbar is shrinked down, I disabled the search-field in the navbar.

Unfortunately, the navbar does not show up for non-logged users. The module is published for everybody, but it only shows up for logged users. So I decidet to use the ES-Dropdown for log-in. I created a new access-group called "only for guests" and the Dropdown is activated only for guests.

First problem: It seems like the cache does not work correctly. I disabled cache in bouth modules, but still it is used. When I change something, I always have to clear the cache before the changes are shown on the frontpage.

Second problem: The Sign-In-popup that shows up from the Dropdown-Module does not contain a "register-link". The popup of the navbar looks the same, but there the register-link is shown. Is it possible to also have the register-option inside of the Dropdown-Popup? (Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2).

Any Ideas about this one?

All the best, Julian!
Hello Julian,

Regarding your issues:
1. It seems like the cache does not work correctly. I disabled cache in both modules, but still it is used. When I change something, I always have to clear the cache before the changes are shown on the frontpage.
>> I am sorry but I'm not sure if I can understand you well. You need to turn off the cache settings at the Global Configuration. Here my screenshot of the setting: http://screencast.com/t/0dfw17vYa .

2. Is it possible to also have the register-option inside of the Dropdown-Popup? (Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2).
>> Here I have attached to you a file. Please download it and put it in your site at here: \modules\mod_easysocial_dropdown_menu\tmpl\default.php . Pleae give it a try and see if this resolved the issue.

Please be advise.
Thanks.

Hi Mohd,

2. Is it possible to also have the register-option inside of the Dropdown-Popup? (Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2).

It works, great, thank you!
Do you change that in your source also or will I have to apply this change after every upgrade?

Uh ... I don´t agree on that one!
Sure, when I disable the cache sitewide there will not be any issues. But what is the sense of the whole caching-system if it has to be disabled? My page is slow enough!

I turned the caching off in the module itself. So it should not be cached, no matter what the global setting is.
The module is cached even if the setting in the module is "do not cache". So this is not a matter of the global caching, it´s a matter of the module.

Please don´t tell me you expect me to turn off the cache globally, only to get the behaviour of the login-module working.

All the best, Julian!

Speaking of users registering, the ES dropdown menu module should display a register button to the left of the login button. As in this should be in the core rather than a mod.

Hello Julian,

Glad to hear your issue with the dropdown menu is resolved. By the way, regarding your site cache, can you provide us with your site access and FTP access so that we can debugging on this issue. I am sorry but, have you clear your site, template and browser cache?

Please be advise.
Thanks.

Honestly ... not really.
After the first upgrade it switched back to the old version again.
I don´t expect you to do something "only for me", but isn´t that a thing that should be done generally? I can´t imagine why any admin needs a login-field without any registration-options ...

All the best, Julian!

They need more time to do internal tests in order to pass the fixes into the final download build...

Some bugs can happen in your site, but that does not mean that I will have that same problem on mine.

Sometimes certain bugs will happen in specific hardware/software combinations and not in others, be glad they take the time to get in your server and fix it for you

Hello Marco,

Thanks for the explanation.

Hello Julian,

I am sorry for the late reply.
Regarding this, "After the first upgrade it switched back to the old version again" actually this is a customization which is only included in your site. I do not include this fix internally.

Please be advise.
Thanks.

Supposedly Mark said " As for the registration link, this was already added internally". So this mod may not be required soon.

Hey guys,

There should actually be a register link in the dropdown menu module. Do you mean that this link isn't appearing for you? Are you guys on 1.3.6?

Yes Mark, I'm using version 1.3.6 (the registration link isn't displaying). It would be even cooler if the registration displayed as its own button so that users know they can register for the site freely.

Hi Mark,

actually there is a registration-link, but some kind of hidden. It´s on the top right corner of the popup. You can see it in bouth screenshots I attached in the first post.
However, it´s really just the word "Registration" in the top right corner, not easy to find.

All the best, Ju lian!

(Yes, I also am at 1.3.6)

Hello Josh and Julian

Yes. That it the registration link. If you wish to change the display of the registration code, you can do customization on this link.

Please be advise.
Thanks.

As Julian mentioned, registration is not easy to find where it is right now. This is why I proposed the button idea. I suppose another idea is to display it like the toolbar in the ES component.

We'll see what we can do about this in the future because right now there's already a Facebook button to login and it would look really cluttered to add another button, http://screencast.com/t/19eAIpNu9d
