Hey,
We wanted to have a page and a few blogs accessible to the public, so we have removed the lockdown on the site and made this page public.

However, we later have realized that all the groups became accessible to the public! which was very problematic to us, since they contain a lot of private data.

Is there any way to have a few pages or groups public, while keeping the rest of the groups for members only?
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a public holidays for us here.

Yes, it is possible to achieve this, but you have to manually set those group from 'public' to 'Closed' type so those non-member will not able to see inside the stream data.

But private groups means that once a user will want to join a group he needs to get approved, and until then they can't see the content of a group. We don't want that, we just want the groups to stay open, but visible for users only.
Is there a way to achieve that?

Are these group/page fixed or randomly?

What i mean is, is it certain group/page you would like to make it inaccessible by public user?

If that is only certain group/page, you can try create hidden menu for ((Groups) Single Group Layout || (Pages) Single Page Layout) there certain group/page then set the menu access to 'Registered'.

But those stream item still can able to accessible by public user if group member posted stream item into public group.

Is this suggestion also not meet your current requirement?

I have had a play on our test site and it seems that because of the way EasySocial works I can't figure out a way to totally override things. As an example if you try either of the following two variations of a group URL then you can't access them if not logged in:
https://faenet.punya.co.uk/community-groups/102-cnayl-group and https://faenet.punya.co.uk/groups/102-cnayl-group
However if you try https://faenet.punya.co.uk/community/groups/102-cnayl-group
You can access everything in that group.

In the past we did try setting the "Community" option to Registered users but we found that then stopped the "I forgot my password" option from working.

All in all it seems that EasySocial is designed really to be totally locked or totally open I guess

In the past we did try setting the "Community" option to Registered users but we found that then stopped the "I forgot my password" option from working.

Regarding this issue, you can easier to create a few following hidden Easysocial menu item to solve this :

- (User) Forgot Password Layout
- (User) Forgot Username Layout
- (User) Complete Reset Password Layout
- (User) Confirm Reset Password Layout

So it no longer respect this "Community" menu access, and you can able to set your "Community" (Easysocial - User dashboard) access to registered.
