Hi, I had a problem whereby the Location button had disappeared. With your assistance, upgrading to 5.1.x (latest download) fixed that.

HOWEVER, I still cannot get it to work properly or at all. I click on the Location link and get the correct screen. If I type (for example, "Sydney Australia" or "Nancy France" I get a spinning circle for a couple of seconds but nothing else and it still says "you have not set a location". If I click on the other icon to use my current location, it "thinks" for up to two minutes but no result.

I have tried with Linux Chrome and Firefox. Samsung android tablet with Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin which all ask if I want to share my location (I say yes) but then nothing. Also tried with my OnePlus 3 phone and same result as the tablet.

Please advise what could be wrong.

Previously (ie in 2015 and 2016 )I would get a list of places to choose which I could click and then a map appeared. Now nothing.

I checked my Google API key and re-pasted it (always worked before). It is also set for http://www.kerr.net.au* access which is as it used to be. I also recehecked the Settings for Location, display and post and all look correct and the same as before the upgrade.

I attach a screenshot.

Joomla is latest 3.7.4 and PHP is 7.0 or 7.1. It seems like some sort of Ajax problem perhaps?

Regards,
Dave
Hi there,

There should not be a problems currently as i tested on my local instance and it is working properly. I suspected that you havent configured your API correctly or maybe you have put those keys with referrer as currently there are issues if you put your referrer for your API.

By the way, for further check on this issues, it would be best if you can provide us with your Google API, backend and FTP access credentials for further check on this issues. Or maybe you can provide us with your admin access to your google API at this email, warith@stackideas.com

Please advice.

Removed referrer, made new API key, reinstalled 5.1.11. All no improvement.

I have emailed access info.

Hi there,

Sorry for not explaining it clearly for you.

Actually, i need to access your google API area in order for me to further check on this. By the way, I got your email and there are no gmail access credentials or admin access given to me. Please advice.

Hello,
I have provided you with Joomla Admin access, full FTP access and the value of my API key. (This is a second Google API static maps key which I created).

By the way, my first google API key worked with EasyBlog for two years but does not any more (it had referrer set but I removed it on your suggestion).

I am very reluctant to give you my API Google access.

You should be able to login to my Joomla backend and verify it is not working for yourself. Then you can briefly put in your own working, unrestricted API key in my EasyBlog settings and if it works there is something wrong with my Google API but if it does not work then there is something wrong at the Joomla EasyBlog end which hopefully you can fix.

From what I can see on the console, my EasyBlog is not actually talking to the API or there should be a log of access or error.

Regards,
Dave

Hi, also I assume you can try my key (it has no referrer) in your EasyBlog?

If that works, there is something wrong with my EasyBlog. If it does not, then there is something wrong with my key.

Dave

Hi there,

I am very reluctant to give you my API Google access.

That why i suggested to you to provide me with admin access to your Google API for further check on this issues on this sections http://take.ms/xxSGj.

This works previously because Google are upgrading their API's from time to times, and it is required for me to check those API itself for better picture on this issues as i tested on my local instance with latest version and it is working without any issues.

As you can see i hit this when i tried to use locations on your site, http://take.ms/87ayF.

Please advice.

I have made you Project editor. Is that correct? Could not find any role such as "Admin"

Hi there,

Oh, sorry for my confusion above. Yes that how it should be actually, as owner and editor.

By the way, it seems that, you havent configured and enabled all those API that should be enabled in order to use those locations. I have enabled them and it should works as it should now as you can see here http://take.ms/PHfuv.

Please give it a try and see how it goes

Thank you very much.

I confirm working well now.

Incidentally, your link in Easyblog "How to get a Google API key..."- in "Settings -> Locations" is incorrect- gets a 404 on your website.

Cheers,
Dave
