It's me again lol

Sorry to trouble you all again

I have a slight niggle and i'm hoping you can help me out.

I have different sections within my website and i'd like to list events that are particular to that section.

So for example - Our Assetto Corsa Section, We have a link to Events, however when i use Category Link, it doesnt show the events, it shows who is doing what.

I'd like it to actually list the events for that category - is this possible?

I hope these links help and explain what i mean

http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/events - Our Homepage Events Link - This shows all events we are running. Notice how the page template is Blue.

http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/rf2-events - Our rFactor2 Section - This Lists all Events that we are running but i would prefer to List Just rFactor2 Events. Notice how template is Orange.

http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/ac-events - This is our Assetto Corsa Section - The Event Link takes you to the Category View, but this doesnt list Events, it just lists Recent Updates?

No go back here - http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/events

Look in Easysocial Sidebar

Under Event Categories - Click Assetto Corsa

This is what you get - http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/events/6-assetto-corsa

However the site has defaulted to main Template and has come out of our Assetto Corsa Section. The Template is Blue.

Why can i not get that view by selecting Category view in back end?

I hope the above make sense and you can explain how i can get category view and not recent updates.

Thanks

Steve
Hey Steve,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Currently, when you click on the "Assetto Corsa" link on the sidebar, it doesn't actually refresh the page. All it does, is that it will perform an AJAX request to the server and return the contents. I don't think there are any "work arounds" currently

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me.

So when i go in back end of site and create a menu link to Easysocial "Event Category Layout" and then select the Category i want, why does it not list the Events in the Category? Why does it list Recent Updates?

As seen in this link - http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/ac-events

Why cant it list this ? - http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/events/6-assetto-corsa

If you are viewing events in a category surely you should see the events, sorry if i'm a little confused

Is it possible to have it list this view, using category view?

Thanks

Steve

Hey Steve,

When you create a menu item that links to the "Event Category Layout", it actually goes to the single category view which displays a list of recent activities contributed to events from this category.

hi

So it cant list individual categories?

Thats such a shame if it cant, is it possible future versions can have this feature, you really should be able to list individual categories and also there really should be a Calendar. For me these are really important features.

Thanks

Hi Team

I'm not sure if my 'issue' or challenge is related. But here goes.

I'd like to link to a page to display all events relating to an event category, rather than showing an activity stream of updates made to events in a category.

At present, I have a list of Event Categories displayed in a non-ES page (using the Event Categories module) and when a user clicks on a category, they are taken to a page that shows an activity stream for events in that category. Instead, I would like the user to see a list of events in that category.

Essentially, i want to replicate the experience you get when you are viewing the default Events list page, and you select a category from the category list in the sidebar.

I've tried the Menu Item - Event category layout. But this only replicates the activity stream view.

The only way i can see i might be able to recreate this is to create a menu item to a URL for the Event Category, which i can get from the Event List page. But this would mean I wouldn't be able to use the Event Category module and I'd have to create a Menu item for each category and create a custom module to display the list of links.

Am i missing something... or is there a more logical/easier way to achieve what i want to do?

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

For now, you have done the correct and easiest way to achieve it, where you can create an external menu that redirect to the single category that you've copy.

Hi Muhammad

Thanks for coming back to me. I've gone ahead and done this, although it really is a cumbersome way to approach this. I'm fine with the workaround, but I hope this can be seriously looked at as part of a future update.

Is there any way of disabling the stream at the generic Event level?

When you have many events being created, in particular by a site administrator, the stream quickly bloats and doesn't look very clean and tidy.

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

Kindly find my response for your inquiries below:

-> As my colleague answer the main inquiry above. We'll consider this in the future version

-> Unfortunately, there is no setting to disable stream on the generic event level. However you can costomize the file below:
JoomlaFolder/components/com_easysocial/themes/wireframe/events/category/default.php

Ok, thanks. I look at the customisation as an option.

Cheers
