Hello,

When Links to a website is created the thumbnail of the web page is not displayed
- when creating the link (ADD LINK button)
- and also not displayed in the stream after posting
Hi Supporter,

Can you provide us some links as examples so we can test and investigate this? Thanks.

Alright. It appears you are trying to share google.com, which actually does not contain an og:image or oembed thumbnail tag: http://take.ms/XKrQj

Similarly to Facebook, when EasySocial crawl links, only the presence of opengraph image tags or oembed thumbnail may allow the crawler to retrieve an image.

Well, OK but why do you call this kind of oembed?
I tested 15 sites and NONE could get a thumbnail generated.

This is then completely useless, don't you think?

EDIT:
It seems that 90% of homepages do not generate a thumbnail but specific internal pages do better.

Still, correct me if I'm wrong, in the past a thumbnail of the page (or similar) was generated in any link, no?

Hey Supporter,

Not sure what you mean here. An example of this oembed tag can be found in the nytimes site(http://take.ms/SNA3DG). Those oembed links may at times contain thumbnail information which we can retrieve to get an image.

I believe this is because most of those homepages do not contain a opengraph image tag for example google and youtube.

Not every link. The link crawler has always crawled images depending on the presence of opengraph and oembed tags.
