Limit replies per discussion

In the layout tab of ED, there is "Limit replies per discussion", what does this feature do?

Does it mean that after 20 replies no one would be able to reply to the post?

Limit replies per discussion means Easydiscuss will limit the discussion to the amount stated before the user press this Load Replies button: http://screen.stackideas.com/2014-11-13_2247.png .
