I started using wanderers template, cause of the fact that rockettheme is way too slow for me when using easysocial...... With wanderers it is fast.

I like the template. it is fast, it is clean and easy to adjust in css to match the site. I do mis some more variation in module positions, but it is workable cause easysocial also has a lot of module positions.

This is however not what I want to ask. The problem is, that the left sidebar is not complete while using wanderers template....

I attached 2 screenshots. One when wanderers is active. The other one I switched to default joomla template. The default template shows a lot more on the side!

Wanderers does not show feed filters. It does not show the groups the user has, it does not show the events the user attends etc. See screenshots for what I mean.

NExt to this, when using wanderers, stream icons dont work either. They just dont appear...on the default joomla template they do...

Is there something that I have to do with the wanderers template to use easysocial with it?

last thing I want to mention: badges dont work either. they are activated, but users just dont get them. But I am not sure if this is wanderers related. Would not be surprised if it was.....
Hi Cbais,

I am sorry, can you kindly provide us with backend access and ftp access so that we can assist you further on this issue? We need this access in order to inspect and debug the issue so that we can provide you with the correct fix to your site.

Please advise.

Good morning,

Backend and ftp access provided with this reply. I am working on a testdomain, so this is not the live site. When everything works o.k., I will redo the process of migrating again on the domain which is live.

Therefor, if You find the problem and fix it, I would like to know how. I have to do it again, once the site goes live ;-)

Also found a problem in the member list. When viewing the members list (on mainmenu, click on 'leden'). Then sort the members on alphabatical order. Then go to page 2 of the list. It will not show page 2 of the memberslist, it will show some mix of streamitems which is not correct.

kind regards,
Eelco

Thats strange. I have tested it myself, before I filled in the details of the sitelogin and ftp login. Are both not working? Joomla backend access and ftp?

And, are You sure you are on the right website? Those login codes only work at the testdomein, which I also included in the details. That's another domain name then the livesite. The livesite is not running easysocial yet. Will migrate the livesite, once the testsite is running perfect ;-)

If that is not the problem with the login, I will create new accounts when I am back home and add them to this topic.

Hi Cbais,

Em, still no luck. I still not able to access to your Joomla backend and frontend and also your FTP. Is your site block IPs from certain country? If yes, then maybe you want to whitelist our IP address: 210.195.24.198 .

Please advise.

Really strange. As fas as I know, there is no blacklist of specific countries. It is of little use then to create other login codes for You. I will check my VPS provider for this, but I think there is no blacklist for specific countries. Site is running in the netherlands.

However, I have a feeling that I know what the problem might cause:

When using wanderers joomla template, it uses a wanderers specific template for easysocial, which is included with the template.

When I use the default joomla template, easysocial will fall back to the template files which are deliverd with easysocial software. (cause the default joomla template has no easysocial specific files included). Those work fine.

There is probably some sort of difference between the easysocial specific files of wanderers and those that are provided with easysocial itself. Maybe the easysocial wanderers template files are not up to date according to the latest release of easysocial. I suppose the easysocial template files, which are part of the easysocial package are always up to date according to the latest release....wanderers theme might be falling behind with the easysocial specific template files. There are no version numbers or changelogs for wanderers releases, so maybe I am working with really outdated easysocial template files, which are part of the wanderers template. Dont know ;-)

I will try to compare the easysocial template files, with those easysocial specific template files of wanderers and maybe change some myself. If You can add something to this issue, or have another thing I can look into to fix this on my own, let me know!

My feeling was right....

Wanderers easysocial integrated theme, is outdated.

I renamed the templates/wanderers/html/com_easysocial directory to something else. This way, the site cannot find the special easysocial stuff which is integrated into the wanderers template and will fall back to wireframe of easysocial itself. Then the site looks terrible, but all functions are there!

After I found this out, I tried to add the missing things to the sidebar of the dashboard myself. By copy an pasting stuff fromt the wireframe template of easysocial to the right place in the php files of the wanderers template. this worked, but the layout needs some work...

I think the conclusion is, that wanderers is not suited for easysocial in its current state OR when using wanderers, we have to stick with less functionality that easysocials offers. Wanderers appears to be build for an older version of Easysocial and has not been updated since..... :-((

Hi Cbais,

I believe the Wanderers is working well. I cannot agree with you. I have tested this on my local and here is my screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/kA0ylfjq . By the way, I have checked your site and it seems like you have done some customization with Wanderers template. I suspected that you have missed some files on Wanderers template.

Please advise.

Also at Your site, it is not good I see on the screenshot. No stream filters on posttype in the sidebar. No streamtype icons in the stream itself (but this can be turned of, but turning it on or off does not make any difference in wanderers theme).

I Just edited the following template file myself:
templates/wanderers/html/com_easysocial/dashboard/sidebar.feeds.php

I added the streamfilter code from the wireframe theme. The default theme of easysocial. This theme has the same file layout as that of wanderers. So I copied the code to show postingtype filters in the sidebar, from the same file, inside the wireframe theme of easysocial, and pasted it to the file which is in the wanderers directory.

See attached screenshot and compare it with the screenshot I posted in the startpost or with Your own site/screenshot. Now my site DOES show the filters on contenttype. Your screenshot does not show those filters either. When You change template to default joomla template on your own site, You will probably see what I mean....

Site login works now for You by the way?

The code I added to the above mentioned file:
	<div class="panel panel-default">
<div class="panel-heading">
<b><?php echo 'Filter op Content';?></b>
</div>
<div class="panel-body">
<ul class="panel-menu" data-dashboard-feeds>

<?php if( $filterList && count( $filterList) > 0 ) { ?>
<?php foreach( $filterList as $filter ) { ?>
<?php echo $this->includeTemplate( 'site/dashboard/sidebar.feeds.filter.item', array( 'filter' => $filter ) ); ?>
<?php } ?>
<?php } ?>

<?php if( isset( $hashtag ) && $hashtag ) { ?>

<?php } ?>
<?php } ?>

<?php if( $appFilters && $this->template->get( 'dashboard_feeds_apps' ) ) { ?>

<?php $i = 1; ?>
<?php foreach( $appFilters as $appFilter ) { ?>
<?php echo $this->includeTemplate( 'site/dashboard/sidebar.feeds.appfilter.item', array( 'filter' => $appFilter , 'hide' => $i > 3 ) ); ?>
<?php $i++; ?>
<?php } ?>

<?php if( count( $appFilters ) > 3 ){ ?>
<li>
<a href="javascript:void(0);" class="filter-more" data-app-filters-showall><?php echo JText::_( 'COM_EASYSOCIAL_DASHBOARD_SIDEBAR_SHOW_MORE_FILTERS' ); ?></a>

Hi Cbais,

I am sorry for the late reply and thanks for your time explaining this to us.
Oh, I apologized for missing this filter. I have discussed this with our designers and I believe you're correct. This filter will be included in the next releases of Wanderers template. Thanks for pointing this out and we're really appreciate it.

By the way, we're still unable to login to your site.

Erm, I am sorry, I can't understand you well on this. "when using wanderers, stream icons dont work either. They just dont appear...on the default joomla template they do..." Can you please explain more and provide us with any appropriate screenshot so that we can understand you better.

About the group and event, here I have attached to you a file, please download it and put it in your site here: .../templates/wanderers/html/com_easysocial/dashboard/default.php .

Please give this a try and see if this resolves your issue.

When needed, I will create new administrator & ftp user. I really have no clue why this user does not work.

About the events & groeps on the sidebar: they are there with Your default.php. Thanks! That was the next issue I wanted to tackle.

I have explained the stream item icon problem in another topic last evening. With screenshots and a way to fix it:

Just a small addition to get the groups & events widgets on the sidebar 100% right, next to the file Mohd Yasser posted in a reply a bit before this one:

If You want to have the same look with events & groups widgets to make it look the same as the rest of the sidebar with wanderers, You will have to copy 2 files into the wanderers template (dashboard directory) from easysocial: sidebar.events.php & sidebar.groups.php.

Before You do this, edit those files. Change the classes.

In the events file, search for:
<div class="es-widget es-widget-borderless">
<div class="es-widget-head">
<div class="widget-title pull-left">
<?php echo JText::_('COM_EASYSOCIAL_DASHBOARD_SIDEBAR_EVENTS');?>
</div>
</div>

<div class="es-widget-body">

and replace it with:
<div class="panel panel-default">
<div class="panel-heading">
<?php echo JText::_('COM_EASYSOCIAL_DASHBOARD_SIDEBAR_EVENTS');?>
</div>

<div class="panel-body">

In the groups file, search for:
<div class="es-widget es-widget-borderless">
<div class="es-widget-head">
<div class="widget-title pull-left">
<?php echo JText::_( 'COM_EASYSOCIAL_DASHBOARD_SIDEBAR_GROUPS' );?>
</div>
</div>

<div class="es-widget-body">

and replace it with:
<div class="panel panel-default">
<div class="panel-heading">
<?php echo JText::_( 'COM_EASYSOCIAL_DASHBOARD_SIDEBAR_GROUPS' );?>
</div>

<div class="panel-body">

Well...to be honest, I would strongly advise not to use wanderers, until wanderers release cycle is the same as that of easysocial and checked by the stackideas team with every release of easysocial and when needed, also release new wanderers. If You have changed the filters on the sidebar, You will soon discover something else that is not there in wanderers, and when that is added, more will be found ;-)

You have to change too much to the template to use all the latest features of easysocial.

After spending lots of time to get wanderers in par with the current release of easysocial I realised it was not workable for me. With every update of easysocial You have to check all of the template again. Too many changes of the wanderers files are needed to make it in par.

My advise would be to use another template.

I have switched to another template and hope that stackideas will update wanderers someday and from that day on, keep it in line with easysocial releases. Untill then, I will just use another template ;-)

Thanks Cbais,

The thing about using another template worries me as well. too many things to remove to make it as light as wanderers. Going to deal with all the headache about optimizing it.

Now I'm really disappointed, i thought that i don't need to go thru the headache of finding a template, although i have active subscriptions with rockettheme and joomlart but those have so much stuff that i don't really need.

Have you found any light template?

well....yes and no. I did found one that was good enough for me, but I really hope that wanderers will be easysocial proof soon.

Right now I use Afterburner2 of rockettheme. Not as fast as wanderers, but also not as slow as all other rockhettheme templates.
works fast enough for the time being ;-)

Thanks Cbais for your advice.

Now i have a very tough call to make. ive used afterburner before and yes it's fast comparing to other templates but since im not expert in css, i will have to work so hard to make it match what already is offered in wanderers which i really (search module position, login, user module, styling the mainbody, module suffix.. etc).

Not to be bothering you, but what other issues you ran with Wanderers? so if i stick with it, i know what headache to expect.

Hi Mark,

My website doesn't have the sidebar complete as the original topic suggested. It would be great if we can get the batched files. I will open other threads if the template has encountered anything else
