Hello SI Team,

I'm trying to configure EasyDiscuss for my application. I had it initially set up as a Q/A forum but now I'm thinking I'd like it configured more like a traditional forum. I've tried changing "Enable Q&A" in the Workflow menu along with a few other changes, but I can't seem to get it dialed in.

Could you please advise how I can configure the backend to have ED display exactly like the image you have on http://stackideas.com/easydiscuss? This looks to be exactly what I'm looking for. If I get that dialed in, I should be able to tweak it from there.

Thanks for the help!!

Mel
Hello Mel,

So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Those are all settings For the categories to appear please go to backend -> EasyDiscuss -> Settings -> Layout -> Categories and set "Show classic categories" to YES.

As for the "Ask a Question" you can change it in the file

JOOMLA/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_easydiscuss.ini

at line 88

COM_EASYDISCUSS_TOOLBAR_NEW_DISCUSSION="Ask a Question"

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Hello Mel,

That's actually one of the themes in EasyDiscuss. You can change theme in the back end settings of EasyDiscuss.

Hi Mark,

It looks like the flatt theme closely matches what is on http://stackideas.com/easydiscuss but that doesn't replicate what's in that image. In the image, categories show up before the discussions, the main button says 'Start New Discussion' as opposed to 'Ask a Questions', and it appears to be functioning more like a forum instead of Q/A site. Is there a way to set up my version of ED to function just like the image you have on your website? Just curious if there's a back end setting that I'm missing.

Thanks!

I am looking to do the same thing. Your support forum is fantastic. Is the theme available? And can you customize it to look like a forum as Mel has requested?

Thanks.

Hi Adelene,

Thanks for the help. Everything has worked with the exception of the 'Ask a Question" text being changed. I altered the JOOMLA/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_easydiscuss.ini you mentioned at line 88. I verified that the changes were uploaded to the server but the button text did not change. Are you sure that's the right file to change?

Thanks for the help!
