I'm not sure how this one works

Took a guess and went into Language Manager

Language Constant: APP_FRIENDS_APP_DESCRIPTION
Text: this is a test

No changes to the rest.

After saving and refreshing the app list page, I didn't see any changes.

What am I doing wrong here?
What are you trying to change here? This language string is only used for the back end when you edit the application

Ooops - I'm such a newbie compared to you.

I was trying to change the description that is displayed when the user is viewing the app list.

For example:
Notes v1.0.1 Use the Notes application to create and show notes on your profile page.

This is the language constant that you should be using, APP_FRIENDS_USER_DESC_USER
