I am sorry but this isn't possible right now but you could actually create your own acl rules and add these restrictions within Kunena.

How about EasyDiscuss?

EasyDiscuss ties category permissions with the user groups in Joomla. So you could assign profile types with the respective user groups on Joomla and if the user registers with the appropriate profile type, the settings are in a way linked
