Hi guys, from what i notice, EasySocial 1.4 will start to support attachments for comments, i assume that in the near future "smileys" emoticons feature will be added, wich is great.
Now, until now, i focused on Komento as our main commenting system basically for a sole reason: Attachments
We use Komento as a comment system for Joomla Articles.
Because much of the feature that Komento have to offer is a little bit "overkill" for our case, we stripped it down to basics within theme files.
Nowadays, noticing that EasySocial will start to implement attachments to comments, we are thinking really seriously to move away from Komento and embrace EasySocial comments.
I am really concerned about the difference between these 2 system as i can't pretty much tell if there is any difference in term of "scalability" / SEO or other important aspects or there is only a difference in term of functionality features.
Requirements
1. We need a simple, straight-forward comment system without too much "bells and whistles". Think about facebook comments : a simple comment form with attachments and "smileys" feature and maybe "media" parsing (like youtube video for example) ... and i think EasySocial is heading towards this direction
2. We don't use other features like a WYSIWYG editor for comments, location detection, stickies and lovies, conversation bar, ratings ... and so on (features that currently "overkill" Komento from our point of view and our scenario)
3. We need the comments to have good SEO performance and be picked-up and indexed by search engines
4. We need the comment system to "scale" well and accommodate large number of comments for one particular "entity" (joomla article in our case)
5. We need the comment system to be deeply "integrated" with EasySocial (system notification and email notification to article author on new comments on his articles)
6. We LOVE the @mentions feature that is available within EasySocial comments.
SO, let's jump into conclusions ...
A. Is EasySocial comment system scalable ? Can accomodate many comments on one article ?
B. Is EasySocial comment system search engine friendly ? Comments are indexed by search engines ?
C. What are the differences between Komento and ES comments ? Does differences are just in term of features, "bells and whistles" ... or there is something else "under the hood" that is important to mention ?
We need a SIMPLE, straight-forward comment system for joomla articles, fully integrated into EasySocial, attachments functionality (upcoming ES 1.4) , emoticons (maybe in the future), @mentions (already available) , media "parsing" (youtube videos - maybe in the future)
Thanks for the read and sorry for the long post
