We would like to have our students (users) view older Komento-posts, but not make new ones. The posts are made on articles that are part of class material, but after the class is finished, we would like the students be able to view previously made comments but not continue to make them.

If we turn off Komento (not "enabled") or remove the classes from the category list, the Komento comments made just disappear and cannot be viewed....until Komento is enabled again. Some of the comments are valuable but we don't want older students continuing to comment on later class intakes, but still able to view the comments.

I get the feeling this is not possible but if you have any ideas that would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Yes, that is not possible to achieve this.

May i know there got how many old articles on your site?

And old/new article also posted into the same category?

There are about 3100 Komento posts/comments. These are posted in about 20 different article "categories". The number of articles in these 20 categories is about 350-400. The individual categories, which corresponds to each of our classes, can be turned off but the old posts cannot then be viewed, until the category is re-activated.

Yes, the older Komento posts will remain attached to articles where newer posts will be made. There are periods when the articles (class materials) will not be used during current classes....during this period, we don't want students to make new comments but still allow them to view the older posts, because, even though the class (category) is not being "held" this term (month), the older students still have access to the material (and the Komento posts) for a 2 year period in the future.

I suspected this could not be done. Thanks for checking.

Yes, that is possible to achieve this, but you have to manually to add this "Komento lock" into your article, you can check my attached screenshot.

If you didn't see that button under the Tiny-MCE editor, you can add this code {KomentoLock} into your article.
