I created a new user and changed the id in the database to 175 and the error is gone. Does this mean I can never delete users in Joomla? It appears to be a Joomla problem and not stackideas. I sometimes delete users because they want to be removed and it makes me nervous to block them and not delete because they may accidentally be unblocked in the future.

EasyDiscuss includes a "user" plugin that will update the post's ownership when the user is deleted. You should check if the plugin "User - EasyDiscuss" is published.

If the plugin is published, when you delete a user, it will change all the posts related to this user to an orphan user defined at the back end of EasyDiscuss under Settings > General > Maintenance

I am having this problem again. I do not see a User - Easydiscuss plugin. Is there a separate download for it?

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

It seems like you still using 3.x version, you have to manually install it.

But I was unable to install through your Joomla backend, something is blocked.

Perhaps you can download my attached file and extract it put it on this file location JoomlaFolder/plugins/user/.., then try go to backend > extension > manage > discover > click discover button > check is there got `User - Easydiscuss` plugin > if yes, tick it and install it.
