Hi Stackideas
We would like to use the JoomlaContentEditor JCE, which allows a finer configuration. These include the restrictions in a separate upload directory for pictures or attachments. The addition "$ USER" gives the user access only from his own directory, which is named after his username. If we want to show in EasyDiscuss not the username but the nickname, the username will still be visible: in the image path.
Is there a way to use this feature in EasyDiscuss and to use the nickname of ED for the upload path in JCE?
Thank you very much
Hey there,

Do you mean the File Directory Path in JCE configuration page? https://take.ms/DwEfR

It seems that the only variables available are $id, $username, $usertype, $profile, $year, $month and $day. But I don't see $user and I believe you are referring to $username.

Also, it seems that $username is referring to Joomla User's username only and that is no other way around to integration with Easydiscuss nickname from JCE setting.

And I am not really sure what is the reason why JCE only provide to use $username variable from the file directory path, I think probably is because username is more unique, so other users unable to use the same username, mean it will not create same folder name for username from the file directory path.

If you really want to replace that $username variable to use EasyDisucss nickname for the image upload path in the JCE editor, it would be best that if you can consult with JCE Provider regarding this and see how it goes because if the user selects the image from JCE editor, it will respect the image path based on what you set from 'File Directory Path' JCE editor configuration setting instead of Easydiscuss setting.

Thank you, Irvin, for your consideration.
As a result, we will remain pragmatic on our philosophy and use board resources as much as possible, so put the JCE path on the username and not use the nickname in ED.
Thanks and best Regards
Christian
