Working on setting up EB on our site.

How do I go about having joomla modules of our site appear on the EB post pages?

Also want to remove the about the author.

Colin
I see how to add joomla modules to easyblog. What I am wondering is how to use the same existing menu module, or do i have to use two modules for the menu?

Hey Colin,

Working on setting up EB on our site.

Also want to remove the about the author.

Unfortunately that is not possible to load Easyblog blog post in Joomla article module.

Actually why you don't want to use Easyblog module to display those blog post?

For example, you can use "Easyblog - Latest blog post" or "Easyblog - Showcase" module.

I see how to add joomla modules to easyblog. What I am wondering is how to use the same existing menu module, or do i have to use two modules for the menu?

I am sorry that i still not understand what your current question, what do you mean use the same existing menu module?
Can you elaborate more details what you trying to achieve here? Please advise.

I actually want to add a joomla module to the eB post, not the other way around.

We are using the smart slider for some other things, as its effect is nice and I haven't had a chance to take a good look at the EB modules. Trying to work out the proper functionality. We need to get the menu for the community to show on the post within that category first.

If we where to use an EB category or post to replace the Joomla article, would we then be able to make the menu work and as the menu would be linked to it?

i understand if worse comes to worse, we can use Advanced Module Manager to get the menu on the posts per EB category.

The other question was the URL structure... In your opinion if the main joomla article for that community activity is at the URL
https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/british-columbia/thompson-shuswap/merritt/mountain-biking.html
but the mountain biking posts are
https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/ugo/mountain-biking-merrit.html
is that ok as far as seo, or should the EB posts be
https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/british-columbia/thompson-shuswap/merritt/mountain-biking/tunnell-mountain.html

Thanks for your time my friend!

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Actually I still feel lost here, perhaps you can check my following explanation and see whether i understand your current question correctly?

1. May i know what do you mean by 'joomla module'? Is it Easyblog module also included? http://take.ms/FgczT

2. Do you mean "smart slider" is this module Vinaora Nivo Slider? If yes, you have to consult with this module provider and see whether they got do something like integration with Easyblog? Because this module is not developed by us, so probably this module unable to show Easyblog blog post.

3. Do you want to show certain Easyblog category post page directly when the user click on the menu? If that is the case, you have to create "Easyblog - single category layout" from backend http://take.ms/4RgvU , after that you have to choose which category you would like to show in this menu item.

The other question was the URL structure... In your opinion if the main joomla article for that community activity is at the URL
https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/british-columbia/thompson-shuswap/merritt/mountain-biking.html
but the mountain biking posts are
https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/ugo/mountain-biking-merrit.html
is that ok as far as seo, or should the EB posts be
https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/british-columbia/thompson-shuswap/merritt/mountain-biking/tunnell-mountain.html

Regarding this URL format https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/british-columbia/thompson-shuswap/merritt/mountain-biking.html can you explain to us what is these alias coming from? Is it coming from the category alias or existing menu item?

- british-columbia
- thompson-shuswap
- merritt

Hi Arlex,

Ok lets start again...

We need to have our menu for a particular section/community of our site. Show on all the posts for that EB category

i.e. attachment - joomla page.jpg = Community activity page
click on blog link for post = blog post.jpg

Menu on Community activity page need to show on the blogs for that community.

-----
Ok so I see if i go through the blog category page that the menu is assigned to, the menu shows on the posts.
i.e post URL
https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/british-columbia/thompson-shuswap/merritt/merritt-biking-blog/mountain-biking-merrit-2.html

\but if I go to the same post through the Joomla page, the menu does not show..
post URL
https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/ugo/fishing-gwen-lake.html

Which raises a huge concern... 2 different URLs same content.

Which of course is not good. Please advise.

I would suggest the easiest way to see what I am trying to accomplish, is to login to the front end of the site and take a look at

Community Homepage - https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/british-columbia/thompson-shuswap/merritt-test.html

scroll to popular activities, click ice fishing - https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/british-columbia/thompson-shuswap/merritt/fishing.html

You can then see the EB posts for ice fishing.

Please take a look and provide some of you very great advice on how to achieve this.

Make sense?
Merry Christmas buddy!

Okay, I understand now.

It is possible to achieve this, the reason why "Mountain Blog" blog URL working expected is because you have created a single category menu for this category. http://take.ms/mn7iH

But for the "Fishing" blog, you doesn't create single category menu for this category yet, so the blog URL will always respect the blog frontpage menu item which is 'ugo'.

I already help you created a single category menu item for "Fishing" category under this section http://take.ms/Z4Ya4 , but i realised it still doesn't affect on the frontend, can you temporary disable your server cache so I can check further again?

By the way, this article inside that slider is it coming from one of the module here? https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/british-columbia/thompson-shuswap/merritt/fishing.html
Screenshot : http://take.ms/da0gW

Can you share with me which module is showing in that article page?

Yes of course, let me know when you will be able to look at it and I will drop the cache immediately.

By the way, this article inside that slider is it coming from one of the module here
.

The screenshot you provide is of the fishing article, which was a test to see how this would work best.
the module for used on that fishing page is the fishing slide (id 1472)

But, so far from what i understand it would be best to use the merritt fishing category as the merritt fishing page..?
Using the category as the fishing article. As I could not get any html to display in the category description I have used articles anywhere in the category description...

So if possible to have the blog category displaying the html, then that could be used instead of the article?
OR will using the category instead of the article hurt our SEO?

Which I have attached the category fishing page:

1 is a slider from smart slider
2. Is a jooomla article added to the blog category using AA.
3. EB blogs in the fishing category.
4. These are actually a custom module to import WP posts from another site.

So I am at your mercy Arlex, I really appreciate any help and advice you can provide on what you would do to achieve the results we are looking for.

Merry Christmas to you are your family my friend!

Yes, that is correct, if you would like to show category alias into your blog URL format.

Yes of course, let me know when you will be able to look at it and I will drop the cache immediately.

Is it you did clear your cache from your server? Because i realised those 'fishing' category post URL now respect that single category menu alias now, is it show correctly now?

Yes, for me show the Merritt fishing category page is better, because you do not need to do a lot of extra work, so it will show all the blog post which created in this fishing category, but also depend on your current requirement.

I think I already provided you a fix in your previous forum post, your category description should can able to render HTML code now. And it will not hurt your site SEO. To verify this, you can check it on Google webmaster tools.

The nginx cache clears every 5 minutes.

It seems like that folder name is incorrect, can you update this com-easyblog to com_easyblog?

You can refer at my screenshot below.

Once you updated, you have to purge your server cache again.
