Hi,

Which product of StackIdeas is Joomla! 4 ready and which one is not?
I cannot see the info displayed in product pages.
I know ES & PayPlans is compatible with Joomla! 4.
Hello Syabab,

EasyDiscuss, EasySocial, EasyBlog, ConverseKit and PayPlans are currently compatible with Joomla 4. Our team is currently working on a major progress for Komento 4.0 and it will also be compatible with Joomla 4.

Hello Syabab,

Most of our apps for EasySocial are independent of Joomla, so it should not have an issue with Joomla 4. Our templates are not Joomla 4 ready yet.

Hi,
I can not update my Easy Blog to Joomla 4. Moreover, the official Stackideas site says that Easyblog 6 is only a beta version, not suitable for live. How does it really look now?

Hello Peter,

EasyBlog 6 is still beta and it should reach stable by mid of the October once we iron out any teething issues in the extension.

Hi Mark,

When changing Joomla update setting to "Joomla Next"
Pre-Update Check for Joomla 4.0.3,
- Extensions Pre-Update Check is full of all SI components, module and plugins... Potential Upgrade Issue
t was not possible to check the compatibility of these plugins.
The request to the update server either timed out or returned an error.

- Update Information Unavailable, same as above... Potential Upgrade Issue
Extension does not offer a compatible version for the selected target version of Joomla. This could mean the extension does not use the Joomla update system or the developer has not provided compatibility information for this Joomla version yet.

With such a long list you do not want to take any risk and update to Joomla 4....

Yep, we are aware of this and we will be pushing an update that addresses these problems.

Joomla 3.10 and Joomla 4 has an annoying notice just because the module / plugin doesn't rely on an update server even though the module / plugins are natively compatible with Joomla 4.0.

I guess, the primary reason is because it cannot reliably determine if the modules / plugins you use can be safely upgraded to J 3.10 and J4.0. It is a good warning, but annoying nonetheless as we need to create a dummy update server just to serve these details.

"You should opt to use EasyBlog, it's a much better composing experience .."

Agree but then how can you leverage and have the complete benefit of Joomlas whole eccosystem for articles systems, categories, tags, article news modules etc etc?

I would like to do it if that could work have Joomla ACL with different user groups that could have access to different blogs and articles managment.

And I dont know if that is doable? I dont think so bcs EasyBlog is not integrated with Joomla like that as I understand now.

Q: can you use a Joomla 3pd news front module that work with EasyBlog "articles" mode?

Example Raxo Module: All-mode PRO NEWS MODULE https://www.raxo.org/raxo-all-mode-pro/showcase.html

This is already possible with the category within EasyBlog. You could assign access to selected categories based on the user groups, https://vx.my/gutmj5c1

can you use a Joomla 3pd news front module that work with EasyBlog "articles" mode?

In cases like this, the only way is to request Raxo to add integrations with EasyBlog.

I understand the worry to have products compatible with Joomla 4, however are you really going to migrate all your sites when no joomla 4 stable version has been released?

Joomla 3 is supported until 17th August 2023 and if like me you have tested the joomla 4 environment, it would be confident to say that everything works well and that all the features from j3 are there.

Personally I'll wait at least 1 year.

Kind regards,

Joomla 4 development started 2017.

So you mean that 3pds should wait 1.5 years after the official stable Joomla 4.0 release to update their extension to Joomla 4 compability???

One of the st--d things I see here the last 7 years....

Migrating sites, not migrating extensions and I used the word personally as well, this remains a suggestion

@ssnobben

Are you a customer of RAXO module? Have you tried requesting them to add integrations with EasyBlog? I believe your voice is definitely louder than ours in terms of getting them to support EasyBlog.

Do you have a link to documentation regarding upgrading of a site to Joomla 4 that is running Easyblog? I looked in the Easyblog documentation and didn't see anything there about Joomla 4. Thanks.

Hello Norman,

EasyBlog 6 will work out of the box with Joomla 4 and all you need to do is to install EasyBlog 6 before / after upgrading to Joomla 4.

There are no specific steps needed to be taken for it to work on Joomla 4.

We have also added a guide at https://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/upgrades/upgrading-to-easyblog-6
