I've just upgrade jomsocial 3.2.0.5 and the group blog plugin within jomsocial is not working anymore.
Do you have an up to date plugin or do you have a fix for the existing one?
thanks
Alan
Hello Alan,

We haven't really gotten a copy of the latest JomSocial yet but my guess is probably because they altered their HTML dom structure. If you can provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site, I will investigate and see what broke

Hello Alan,

I have applied some fixes for you on the site and it should work fine now. The file that you should be copying to your live site is in /plugins/system/groupeasyblog/groupeasyblog.php

Hi ther

Have just realised that the Blog Tab that the plugin should / use to create in the Jomsocial Group area is not there.

Has this been removed ohas the plugin not been updated to be compatible with the latest Jomsocial update?

Many thanks

Hello Jorrit de Jong,

Thanks for take your time to provided us with your login access,

I think I have misunderstand on your previous question, are you referring to the blog menu integrate in JomSocial toolbar or JomSocial Group Blog?

If yes, the blog menu already integrated in your Jomsocial toolbar, and I have applied some fixes about the JomSocial Group Blog in your site as Mark solved this in previous customer.

If you're not referring both of them, can you elaborate more details regarding with your question? Please advise.

Hi Arlex

Thanks for your reply. OK, I see that I have placed my post in the wrong thread. I started one myself about the plugin a few weeks ago here:
http://stackideas.com/forums/jomsocial-group-blog-1

Unfortunately, I did not check title or content of this thread before adding my entry, so sorry about that.
So your remarks to Mark don't apply to me, although you said you have fixed something, so thanks for that.
My question now is what did you fix and will this fix be overwritten on the next update of Easyblog or the plugin?
And is yes, can you tell me what you did so that I can apply myself?

Now returning to my original query above, I was not referring to the JS Toolbar.
I mean the Tabs bar that appears only in the JS group area (cTabsBar clearfull), which shows 'recent activities, description, announcements and discussions'.

I maybe wrong, but didn't the plugin use cause a 'Blogs' Tab to appear in that TabsBar? Or did I imagine this?

Many thanks

Hi Arlex

Thanks again for reply but I think You may not be getting my point. There is no 'Blog' tab in that tab bar that arrow is pointing to in my screenshot.

Should there be a blog tab in the group tab bar or not?

Just to say that I have now seen that the reply to blog is not working correctly.
Not sure if that related to your fix in .../blog.php

When the 'submit your comment' button is pressed the page does not refresh. After several attempts at click button, it was found that the reply comment appeared on the page more than once, because of all the attempts.

Could you have a look at this, or do I need to start a new thread?

However, I would still like to know if there should be a 'blog' tab in the JS group tab bar or not (not the JS toolbar)?

Thanks arlex

Hi Arlex

Having trouble accessing front & back end of website. This error message appears in browser:

'Content Encoding Error
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression'.

Has this got anything to do with your testing?

regards

Its OK. Think I've narrowed it down to this extension which I updated today.
http://www.nonumber.nl/forum/ModulesAnywhere/5469-Module-inside-Menu-Item

The effects were not immediate but the error shown here is the same.

Forward and onward...

Hello Jorrit de Jong,

Sorry for late reply to this,
I didn't do any testing in your site yet, because when i double checked in your site, the blog tab shown on the group area tab.

After I received your replies, then i tried to login in your site, then can't access, it show "This web page is not available"

Can you consult with your Webhosting provider regarding this? Please advise.

Take that back. Have disabled GZip via FTP. The site is back (front and back) but every page (front and back) and now has this error code at the top of the pages:
Notice: Undefined variable: options in /var/www/vhosts/websitename/httpdocs/plugins/system/groupeasyblog/groupeasyblog.php on line 318

Ball back in your court Arlex as this is the file that you made amendments to.
I have disabled 'System - Group Blogs' plugin to get rid of above notice on the site pages.

Thanks

when Gzip off > code above all pages:
Notice: Undefined variable: options in /var/www/vhosts/websitename/httpdocs/plugins/system/groupeasyblog/groupeasyblog.php on line 318

when Gzip on this, and uanble to access site..
'Content Encoding Error
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression'.

Hope that helps

Thanks Arlex, you're a champ. Tab is back...but why did it go?

Turned GZip back on and no errors. Where did you writ fix for this...was it the same 'blog.php' file as above?
Will future updates overwrite this or will they include this fix?

You have now made changes to blog.php and subscription.php and I would prefer not to have to add these hacks with every EB update.
I am using the auto-updater as provided in admin.
Is this not the best way to update EB?

Best Regards

FYI

Just to let you know that what ever you did also fixed an error that mysteriously appeared during your work on the blog.php.

"Mega Module for Jomsocial " is a module we use to display members photos. For some reason each image got replaced by the following code:

Strict Standards: Non-static method modJSMMHelper::getUserName() should not be called statically in /var/www/vhosts/websitename/httpdocs/modules/mod_jsmm/helper.php on line 1677

However, after you applied the fix above that caused:

'code above all pages:
Notice: Undefined variable: options in /var/www/vhosts/websitename/httpdocs/plugins/system/groupeasyblog/groupeasyblog.php on line 318'

...the images have now come back.

Best regards

Hello Jorrit de Jong,

Sorry for late reply to this,
Yes, the fixes will be including in next release version of Easyblog plugin.
What i did is just applied some fixes in this file JoomlaFolder/plugins/system/groupeasyblog/groupeasyblog.php

'code above all pages:
Notice: Undefined variable: options in /var/www/vhosts/websitename/httpdocs/plugins/system/groupeasyblog/groupeasyblog.php on line 318'

That's strange, because I already applied this fixes in your file at last night, may i know which page you still hitting this? Because I have checked in your site and the Jomsocial group page, but no error showing in my screen

Regarding with this "Strict Standards: Non-static method modJSMMHelper::getUserName() should not be called statically in /var/www/vhosts/websitename/httpdocs/modules/mod_jsmm/helper.php on line 1677"

You have to consult with this module developer and see how it goes.
