Hi,

after upgrading my site I was no longer seeing the Blog bit in my Jomsocial Events or Jomsocial Gropus - there appears no way of adding blogs to either.

I have just purchased the latest versions of both these components, installed them and it still isn't working. Is there something different that I should do to get them to display?

Kind regards

Mel
Hello Mel,

Sorry for late reply to this,
Try download my attachment file below and replace in your file then see how it goes.
JoomlaFolder\plugins\system\groupeasyblog\groupeasyblog.php
JoomlaFolder\plugins\system\eventeasyblog\eventeasyblog.php
JoomlaFolder\components\com_easyblog\themes\dashboard\system\dashboard.write.groups.jomsocial.php
JoomlaFolder\components\com_easyblog\themes\dashboard\system\dashboard.write.events.jomsocial.php

If still can't, I think you have to provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you investigate on this. Hope this help.

Hello Mel B,

You may upload & replace the original files with this two files to their respective folder. Below are the instructions on where to upload the files to its respective folders:

1. copy and paste the groupeasyblog.php to your local_joomla_folder\plugins\system\groupeasyblog\groupeasyblog.php

2. copy and paste the eventeasyblog.php to your local_joomla_folder\plugins\system\eventeasyblog\eventeasyblog.php

Hope that helps

Regards

Hi Kheng,

thanks so much that seems to have fixed it in Groups. It is also fixed in Events, but the are now 2 Blog links:

How do I remove the one that shouldn't be there?

Hi Arlex,

I can't unfortunately on this particular site as it now has sensitive information in it (school). Is there a way you can walk me through what needs to be done without this access?

Hi Arlex,

Hello Mel,

That's strange because there shouldn't will showing 2 blog tab at the same place
Do you try disable this 2 plugin (group/event) and see is it that 2 blog tab will disappear it?
If no, that might somewhere got overridden this file or else.
Okay, keep us updated then tomorrow.

Hi Arlex,

I uninstalled the EventBlog system plugin and it removed one of the blog links in the image above, but this also removed the New Blog Post link in the Option section of Jomsocial's Events page.

I think what is happening is both the Groups and Events Jomsocial Blog plugins are adding a link each to the main event page. If this is correct, can I just prevent one of them from installing the link, or is this necessary?

Now after doing that, the eventsblog no longer installs. I try to install it the usual way, Browse - Upload etc. and it goes through to the Congratulations message, but it hasn't actually installed - no folder in the plugins area on server and no New Blog Post in the Events-Options

This is very odd

Ok,

so I seemed to have really messed up my site, so had to revert to an old version. I started again with first installing the two new plugins for groups and events. First installed Groups - then Events plugins. At this point nothing shows under Options in Jomsocial for Creating a new blog. Then downloaded and replaced the files you gave me here. First installed the Events file to overwrite the current one in plugins/system etc. Fine it displays Blog in the link and also the create new blog under options. Then uploaded the second file and it also added the create new blog to Groups, but added a second Blog - but only to the Events page link as shown in my original image. It must surely be the Events file I downloaded from this thread that is causing the duplication issue?

Hi, I have added the site details (empty version). Please try and install the events plugin - it shows that it has installed but it doesn't actually upload to the server!

Hi Arlex,

do you mean install all of Jomsocial?

Thats my problem now as I can't install anything since uninstalling the easyblogjomsocial event. How would I get around this?

Some of my replys on this topic have disappeared - I did add the site details for you to log in etc.

Arlex,

what is this OSEfileman that has been installed? I would prefer it if I was asked before software that can browse my server files, download my email accounts etc. are installed. I am surprised, as always felt I could trust stackideas staff. This is the very reason we are reluctant to give access to our administrator areas - I should know better as have been a victim in the past to my cost.

Hello Mel,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply and I didn't ask you for the permission to install the OSEFileman in your site,

Some of my replys on this topic have disappeared - I did add the site details for you to log in etc.

When you provide your login details in site detail area, only our support team van view it.

what is this OSEfileman that has been installed? I would prefer it if I was asked before software that can browse my server files, download my email accounts etc. are installed. I am surprised, as always felt I could trust stackideas staff. This is the very reason we are reluctant to give access to our administrator areas - I should know better as have been a victim in the past to my cost.

The reason why i installed the OSEFileman in your site is because i would like to check the code file is it got any customize code before, because that was work fine for me when i install both plugin in my local, the blog tab should not shown out 2 blog tab.
Hope you understand.

I have tried to login in your site, but now i getting this "Warning
Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet."

Please advise.

Arlex,

I hadn't customised any of the files - I would have mentioned this if I had. This is the last process I tried:

1. Re-installed site to an earlier version without the newly downloaded groups and events plugins for jomsocial
2. Uninstalled all easyblog components
3. Reinstalled easyblog
4. Reinstalled easyblog jomsocial groups plugin -no blog tab and no link under options to create a blog
5. Reinstalled easyblog events plugin - no blog tab and no link to create a blog
6. Downloaded the 3 files you placed in this thread and uploaded the to the folders you stated overwriting existing files
7. Blog tab appears once in Groups and options-create blog available
8. Blog tab appears twice in Event and this time, no Create a blog appears
9. After updating those last two plugins with the files I downloaded on this thread, it has affected module installation on the website -nothing installs -files show as installed successfully but there are changes on the server and no new folders/files created

Adding those last two updates for Groups and Events plugins seems to corrupt Joomla.

I would like to try and fix this without providing administrator access, as feel this leaves us too vulnerable, so if it helps I can send any files you need or screen dumps of settings etc.

hello Mel,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply,
Correct me if i getting wrong your meaning here, do you mean that when you create the blog post from the JoomSocial group, the blog post doesn't show in the blog tab? check my screenshoot : http://screencast.com/t/IVZdgLnd

If no, can you elaborate more detail regarding this?

because I'm still investigate regarding this other issues related when you click "create a blog post" from the event, when you click save the blog post, it doesn't appear in the event blog tab.

Arlex,

its my turn to apologize for the delay.

I have reverted to my earlier version of my website (prior to uploading the changed files above). The Groups Blog works fine, but the Events Blog doesn't have the option to create New Blog Post when I click on the Options menu for an event. If I upload the files you gave me, then it creates two Blog links in the menu event window, but does not add the New Blog Post link under options, so basically it just adds a second link to the Blog Window - does that explanation make sense? Please see image below for missing New Blog Post link:
