I was just thinking, have you guys thought about developing a bridge that will enable JomSocial apps to work with EasySocial?

I know it isn't a perfect solution, but it might just prompt 3PD's to take notice of EasySocial and provide native support.
hey mark,
we have absolutely no plans to do this as introducing some legacy codes just so that 3rd party plugins that were written for other systems could run on easysocial will for sure decrease quality. not to mention that we follow a complete different path in the way things are done with apps etc. - having that said we're welcoming everyone that is writing native 3rd party apps for easysocial and it's actually pretty easy for devs to already do this and for sure we'll see more of them in the future

Hello Mark,

To be honest, we did thought about this and like Alex mentioned, it's going to be insane to maintain legacy codes. Further to that, it's like making IE7 work with Chrome

Fair enough Alex and Mark, I fully understand.

It's just a shame more developers haven't yet made their components compatible with ES. I've asked a few and at least they have said they will consider doing so

Hello Mark,

I guess customers would need to play their part as well by offering some monetary benefits for these developers. Most of the time, these developers would require some sort of "motivation" to build apps They normally don't see the bigger picture until they try it

Have you thought about either paying some of the key developers to build integrations, or maybe building it yourself?

I just think it needs a little 'push' to get the ball rolling!

Hello Mark,

We did actually thought about it but it really doesn't make any sense if we were to pay them to build integrations and in the end they would be charging for it It's like running a charity house haha

I'm not so sure that I agree Mark!

If you paid some selected developers to add integrations, you would be the client. As the client you could specify that it should be a freely available addon.

How I see it, the more addons available, the more likely people are to choose ES over JS.

Hello Mark,

But that would be a no-brainer If I pay them $500 for an app, they could easily make more money if they sell it (This is one of the pros and cons of GPL licensing). Regardless of who paid for what, nobody owns the code. It can be owned by everyone

Got you, now I understand!

I guess you guys and us users just have to keep bugging them to support EasySocial.

Maybe if you can incentivise and encourage more people to write a review in the Joomla Extensions Directory more people will start taking notice.

hey mark,
I think at the end the most powerful way to get devs to write easysocial apps are you customers. if you use extension X and request for an integration, the more people do this the higher the chance it will be done
