Hi there...

I have some categories in easy discuss that are limited to certain groups. I have a board for Team members, and a board for VIP members for instance.

Now if some-one adds a topic or a reply... the activity stream shows the feed. However... it seems that it doesnt gives any rights. So this results in regular members seeing parts of team topics or replies.

What can i do?

Thank you...
Hello Cynthia,

Ia m really sorry but unfortunately there's no way around this unless you customize JomSocial and EasyDiscuss so that it respects the category / group. This is going to be extremely tedious though.

Oke... but since you offer the feed for the stream... dont you think your company should look into this?

Or atleast give a warning that regardless the ACL... the feed will always be displayd in Jom Social's activity stream?

I can not code.. so that could mean i have to pay alot of money for this. And not only that.. you say it's tricky, so that means updating and such could not be possible anymore.

I think that this is a hudge privacy issue that needs to be adressed...

Thanks, Lafemme

Hello Lafemme,

I wish there's a proper solution to this because the ACL in EasyDiscuss relies on Joomla groups whereas the privacy settings in JomSocial is not and it's restricted to their own set of privacy rules

Does this mean you consider this as a feature in E.D?

Hello Cynthia,

I can't really promise this yet currently as we are still working on EasyDiscuss 3.2 right now We might consider this for the future releases.

Hi..

sorry for my late reply. I have asked at Jom Social and this is what they have told me:

Hello Lafemme

They can easily add access parameter when they construct the activity stream
$act->access = 0 // Public
$act->access = 20 // Site Members
$act->access = 30 // Friends Only
$act->access = 40 // Only me

Having the access param for the activity will force JomSocial to respect it. This needs to be added on a third-party code level though, at the place where activity stream is generated

Does this mean that you or I can add group for it?

Hello Cynthia,

There is actually no problems with their privacy / access on the stream. We can't be adding additional privacy just to support JomSocial and if there are other extensions like Community Builder or EasySocial, it will just complicate things even further

We'll see what we can do in the future versions.
