This has popped up since updating to latest version. I click the link, it lets me update, but it doesn't go away.

It wont go away ...
I'm curious on how to disable it. I think it's a great touch to EasySocial for sure. However some of us don't feel the need for it considering that some communities are okay with people not filling out their entire profile. Especially when there are a lot of custom fields.

Agreed, nice touch but a pain when it keeps appearing every time I open a new page or menu item.

Perhaps if you add a clickable "Don't show this again?' button on the message and/or in the profile area add a horizontal completion bar showing how much of the profile has been completed?

Ah, you can switch it off in Settings - Users - User Profile section

I would still consider a horizontal completion bar in the profile area as an option, placed in this User Profile admin section as well, so we can pick either the message or the horizontal bar.....?

The message should only display on the profile page rather than every ES page. Thanks Richard for pointing out where to disable the profile check.

Yes, that would be better Josh, agreed.

There is also an option to place a % Profile Completed Button in the Member area, keep it small and unobtrusive, maybe just a % with a pop of saying % of profile completed, in summary it is ok to remind people to complete their profile as long as it is subtle enough not to annoy them every time they look at the social/profile area and possibly allow them to switch it off.

Hey guys,

You can actually configure the behavior of the "profile completion" as you can see here, http://screencast.com/t/0VRQg0jxVn

Right, which is great those options exist. There should be another drop down option called "Show Message on Profile Only".

We'll see what we can do to enhance this but right now, we'll not be adding any more features apart from bug fixes and focus on the development of 1.3

Right, that's completely fine. Sometimes we like to get requests preped in advance. Some of my posts I put out with the expectation of them not making it into the next major release. Sometimes we hope to get stuff in a few major releases down the road.

I'm curious if you keep a personal log of things when the next release list is "full". I personally keep a .txt file for bugs and features. Also a folder for bookmarks of issues that at some point in time need to be addressed.

Install a new launcher for ES, this should fix the language string issue.

In case this is not clear, Josh means download v 1.2.7 and install it as the normal update process is causing string errors. Version 1.2.7 will eliminate the problem (see this thread )

Thanks guys ... that fixed the language issue which was was really starting to bother me.

But not the original issue of the post. If I complete my profile, the box still comes up, even when completed ... that it isn't complete.

I understand, though would suggest opening a new thread for that part to treat it as a new issue as this one only really covers the strings,

Hey Damian,

If you are hitting the error message even though your profile is already completed, can you please start a new thread and provide us with the access to check on this?

Hi,

I am the author of this feature and pardon the bugs in it as it is a new experiment that I've included.

As mentioned before, you can switch this off if this is causing troubles on your site.

There are 2 modes currently, you can either set it to have a nagging (albeit annoying message) on top of every view (except edit page) to constantly nag users about completing their profile. This is commonly seen on dating sites. Another mode is slightly extreme, that is by forcefully redirecting the user to the edit page on every page that the user go, disallowing the user to browse the website if their profile is not complete yet. (I do see some large dating sites enforcing this option, hence I've included this option as well).

As for % calculation and completion bar, that might be a bit tricky and I will see how I will go about implementing it in the future.

Hi DamoDamo,

I am very interested to debug this on your site to see where the issue is coming from. The way it works now is, the code will ask each individual field in your profile, to check if that field is required, and if the data is valid. If one of the field reports back an error status, then the system will flag it as incomplete profile. Please do include necessary site access.

Hi,

I've identified that the permalink field have a bug in complete profile checking. Please replace this file @ /media/com_easysocial/apps/fields/user/permalink/ and it should fixed the problem (unless there are other field causing it).

Please forgive me for jumping this thread but I think this is a great feature to have. I have not yet had a chance to check it but I am looking forward to doing so :-)

Awesome Jason, thank you, great and proactive Stackideas support yet again on an excellent feature!

One of many reasons why we rate Stackideas as Number One:

Quality Feature Rollout RuleBook - Stackideas

1. Roll out new quality feature
2. Feedback from members is "Great idea, but these bits we don't like/are a pain"
3. Accept feedback, respond with options and a gameplan in the forum
4. Implement improvements ASAP/well beyond expectations.
5. Happy customers lead to more renewals and referrals

Quality Feature Rollout RuleBook - Poor/many other companies

1. Roll out new quality feature
2. Feedback from members is "Great idea, but these bits we don't like/are a pain"
3. Ignore feedback
4. Do not add improvements into a project development plan.
5. Unhappy customers leading to fewer/no renewals and fewer/no referrals as customers move to competitors

Nice work indeed Jason, thank you again.

I didn't see this in another thread so I'm adding it to this conversation. This is a great feature but I think logically it should be associated with a badge i.e. a badge awarded when profile is completed.
