Hi,

I'm experiencing some major problems while posting pictures posts from the mobile version of the website.
The 1.3Mb picture is rejected and the 2.0Mb one is accepted. Also the accepted picture should be displayed vertical but it is actually cropped and uploaded as a rectangular picture, displaying less than half of the original picture.
I tried to upload both through a test app based on the website (made with mobincube.com) and the behaviour of accepting and rejecting the pictures is exactly the same, except for the vertical upload that through the app worked properly.
Please let me know if this issue can be solved and also if buying the "Mobile Web Template (v2.0.2)" from Stackideas will help handling this kind of issues. also about the "Mobile Web Template (v2.0.2)" I would like to know if it can be customized with different colours after installing and if it is extended to the whole site, displaying the main menu to surf the whole site and not only the easysocial community page.
Last but no least, I recently needed your support to update the version of Easysocial, but I recently was advised to upgrade to the 3.0 but once again it failed to upgrade.
I need the website to work properly on mobile devices because unfortunately I bought the customized app from Appcarvers but they are a total disaster and I need to move on as soon as possible.
I send you some pictures to understand the issues.

Thank you very much for your support
I also enclose the screenshot of the mobile device. One picture is uploaded but cropped instead of being vertical. The other one is blank.

Hey there,

The 1.3Mb picture is rejected and the 2.0Mb one is accepted. Also the accepted picture should be displayed vertical but it is actually cropped and uploaded as a rectangular picture, displaying less than half of the original picture.

Can you attach that 1.3MB picture into your next reply so I can able to test on it?
Actually that is default behaviour, it will not show to vertical preview when you upload finished with those vertical picture. (screenshot : http://take.ms/rDHPtX ) And if you upload more than 1 image, those image will cropped it in order to make the layout populate correctly. If you would like to check that image, you have to click on it so it will preview the full image.

I tried to upload both through a test app based on the website (made with mobincube.com) and the behaviour of accepting and rejecting the pictures is exactly the same, except for the vertical upload that through the app worked properly.

I will continuous check with your above issue which rejected that 1.3MB picture. And this issue is not related with the Mobile web template, mean even you install it, it will remain the same.
Yes, you can customise the colour using css after you installed mobile template, but unfortunately currently that is no other way to linkable with your current menu item to surf the whole site, because once you load the mobile template on mobile, your existing menu item unable to viewable.
In the next release mobile template, we will include a new setting for allow admin to set only load the mobile template on Easysocial page, so that when the user go to your site other page, your existing menu item still appear on mobile.

Last but no least, I recently needed your support to update the version of Easysocial, but I recently was advised to upgrade to the 3.0 but once again it failed to upgrade.

By the way, I already help you updated to latest version of EasySocial.

Hey there,

It seems like only this problematic photo unable to upload in Easysocial, this is the error generated from PHP function :

<br />
<b>Notice</b>: imagecreatefromjpeg(): gd-jpeg, libjpeg: recoverable error: Invalid SOS parameters for sequential JPEG
in <b>.../administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/image/adapters/asido/class.driver.gd_hack.php</b> on line <b>243</b><br />

<b>Notice</b>: imagecreatefromjpeg(): gd-jpeg, libjpeg: recoverable error: Invalid SOS parameters for sequential JPEG
in <b>.../administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/image/adapters/asido/class.driver.gd_hack.php</b> on line <b>249</b><br />

By the way, I've applied some fix in this file ->
JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/image/adapters/asido/class.driver.gd_hack.php

Can you give it a check it should able to upload that 1.3MB image file now.

Is there any way to set to default pictures as vertical? That's because all my dite is about eine bottles and labels.

By the way, unfortunately that was not possible to show vertical at this point of time.

Hi Lorenzo,

I'm a little bit lost here. Do you mean that when you try to upload a photos from your smartphone, the photos will automatically be rotated to horizontally instead of vertical? I just tried the above behavior in my local by using my smartphone but it seems like the photos did is showing up correctly with the correct orientation (vertically).

Perhaps you can elaborate more on the issue here?

Ah I see. This is actually a default behavior when there are multiple photos in single stream item to make the layout looks nicer. You can however change this behavior by going to backend > easysocial > settings > photos > layout > photos display pattern set to "Flow" so that it will not show as fixed size during display in stream, http://take.ms/geeML .

Please give it a try.

Hello Lorenzo,

Can you upload the image here so that I can test this on my local instance? It should be rotating the image with the EXIF data from the image.

The picture was taken from the camera option on on the mobile website, so I don't have that image in my archive.

Hello Lorenzo,

I need the original image that was taken from your mobile as I need to see the contents of the image if it contains the layout of the image (whether it is in landscape or portrait)

Hello Lorenzo,

What mobile device did you took to take this picture? From what I can see here, there is no EXIF data for this image at all (including screen portrait). This is why EasySocial wasn't able to rotate the image automatically.

Take a look at my screen shot here of the EXIF information, http://take.ms/YRyGO

On my iphone device, when you take a landscape photo, it will contain exif data that lets software like EasySocial know if it should be rotated to the correct angle.

Hi Lorenzo,

It could be either your phone orientation camera is defected or your camera apps not generating EXIF data correctly even when you upload the image in the forums here. Have you tried to the take picture from another phone and upload it in EasySocial and see how it turns out?
