Issue with Menu to Single Group Item (404)

Hello,

I'm trying to have a Joomla menu item linking to a group. But it does not work and I get a 404 error.

I created a demo menu item on my site for you too see (see attached snapshot). It's called "Link to Group" and the generated SEF URL is:
http://.../Categories/link-to-group

I must say that I don't understand how this URL is built... either by Joomla or ES.

Note that I have sh404SEF installed on my site, but I completely disabled it (component and plugins) so that it does not interfere with this problem.

I am sorry for the late reply.
I have checked your site and it seems like I cannot find where is this "Categories" menu item coming from. Please see my screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/5IM1ZmvIK . Then, I turn off the SEF setting; to check whether the non-sef url work, and it do work. Next, I checked your database, and it seems like you have 3 menu item having the same alias: http://screencast.com/t/4rrsTKPN7 . I suspected that there is an issue with your menu item. Can you please check it for me are these 3 menu items are still in used/available in your site? If it not, can you please remove it and try it again.

Please advise.

Thanks for this info. I checked my #__menu table and it appeared to be a real mess... I did a lot of cleanup and now things are back in order.
