Hi,

I renewed licence for easydiscuss and reinstalled as we changed our web url. I used to have cron jobs working where it would send notification emails out. It doesn't seem to work now. I have had 7 people from siteground look at it without success. I cannot find any documentation to explain how to get the emails to send out. In email activities they show as pending.

It is quite urgent I get this working for my business.

Many thanks,

David
Hi David,

Can you provide us with your FTP and Cpanel login credential ? so we troubleshoot this issue further?

You can add the information needed by edit your first post in the Details section or you can just include your site's access once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site rather than needing to keep adding them in your replies

Hello,

I have provided passwords in the dashboard. I am not very familiar with ftp processes though.

Thanks,

David

Hello David,

It looks like you have not provided us with the cpanel access. Did you already setup the cronjob in your cpanel? If so, could you take a screen shot of your current cronjob setup?

By the way, setting up the cronjob is relatively easy if you follow the instructions on our documentation page at https://stackideas.com/docs/easydiscuss/administrators/cronjobs/setting-up-cronjobs-in-cpanel

You just need to ensure that the path to wget is correct and is available in the cronjob (You need to check with Siteground).

Umm, Not sure it is a good idea to post login details in full view of everyone on the web!

Well I am not support and could see the details you posted.
I believe you need to post such using the "secure" tab.

In your shoes, I'll be changing that password immediately and/or deleting the user as you have to assume others have seen it.

Hello David,

Hm, I still don't see the cpanel access yet. Anyway in the future if you do want to post your site access as a reply, remember to post your ticket as "Private" first. If you don't want your post to be private, edit your post and include the site access under the "Site Access" section.

By the way, have you checked with Siteground about the path to wget and if it is allowed in their cron?

Hi Mark,

I have put cpanel in the notes on the dashboard.

I had it working two years ago but changed the website name. Cannot get it to work now. I have had 6 different people from siteground look at it and they just point me to stackideas.

I am not sure of the settings for bin or wget

Cheers,

David

Hello David,

I am surprised that Siteground did not notice that the cron only runs at the 5th minute of the day, http://take.ms/UVdxA . It should be */5 which means every 5 minutes.

This should be the correct one, http://take.ms/M65ki . This ensures the cron runs every 5 minutes and not the first 5 minutes of the day.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for reply. It still isn't running though. I have siteground saying they don't know what the bin / wget setting is.

I copied the cron job setting as stated in the documentation but not sure what I need to do for bin or wget.

The cron job has not run yet.

Thanks,

David

Hm, wget is a binary (like a .exe) that tries to download the web page. Can you check with them if it is possible to use wget in the cronjob? You need to escalate with a higher technical support from siteground. They should know what wget is.

Hello Dayo,

There's a bug in our "unsubscribe" feature on our site. We'll be addressing this soon.

Hello Dayo,

This has been an overdue fix which we haven't pulled from our repository. I have now merged these fixes on our site and it will no longer generate notifications when you explicitly unsubscribe from a thread.

Hi Mark,

The cron job is running but the email activities still shows all the emails as pending.

Email received is below
Resolving heartlandfarm.co.nz (heartlandfarm.co.nz)... 181.224.157.64
Connecting to heartlandfarm.co.nz (heartlandfarm.co.nz)|181.224.157.64|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: unspecified [text/html]
Saving to: '/dev/null'

0K .......... .......... ........ 472M=0s

2017-02-01 07:30:02 (472 MB/s) - '/dev/null' saved [28961]

Is the cron job to start the email queue?

Thanks,

David

Yep, that URL is to initiate the script to process pending e-mails on the site. I have updated your cron command again, can you provide me with the output?

This seems to be correct, can you check if some of these pending e-mails are being marked as published?

Hi Mark,

Still showing as pending. I am on the email notification and would receive if it was running.

Thanks,

Hello David,

Okay it seems like the queue got stucked because there was some records with invalid e-mails. I have cleared it and it should work fine now.
