I am wondering if you have a way for me to plug in Akismet information into my Komento. I have a site where I am using Komento with Joomla articles (only a couple), EasyBlog and K2. I would like to protect us from the amount of spam we are starting to get that is from people who are actually manually posting to the page. The site is a http://www.drcarney.com

Otherwise, I am also open to any other ideas you have about the best way to reduce spam comments. These are not automated bots.

Sean
I have another site at https://www.starch-smart.com that uses EasySocial, EasyDiscuss, EasyBlog, and K2 as well as YooRecipe. It is a LOT. But, I use Komento there for comments. I also want to reduce the manual spam there as well.

Hey Sean,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is actually a public day off for us here. Komento does have akismet integrations by default

Go to Integrations -> [Select the component] -> Antispam

Thank you so much Mark,

I was very grateful for your reply. It helped me! And, it is working.

I am sure wondering where the spam filtered comments are stored. I see that Akismet is catching spam but not sure where it is putting it. The reason I know it is catching it is because the spam has stopped, and because logging into their site shows that they are catching spam. However, I would love to check the spam to make sure there are no false positives.

Thanks, Sean

Hey Sean,

Komento doesn't allow spams to be stored. It automatically rejects the comment letting the user know that their content is flagged as spam.

1) Can we inform Akismet when they allow spam through?
2) Can we turn off the website address field in Komento?

I am wondering if there is a mechanism with Komento to inform Akismet whenever a spam message gets through. I have received two messages today which they let through that are actually spam. The purpose of their messages is in order to be able to post their web site address is the web site field.

I would love to be able to inform Akismet so that this would stop. Is this something that Komento can somehow do (If so I have not found it) or is this something that Komento might be able to do in the future?

Also, I am wondering if I can just remove the website field so that it will no longer be as tempting for them. Of course this is NOT my preference. My preference is for Akismet to learn about them and deny them.

Thanks, Sean

PS. Here are the pages. I am going to leave this spam in place hoping that there might be a way to report it to Akismet:

https://www.starch-smart.com/science/disease-conditions/item/6-a-milk-protein-casein-as-a-proliferation-promoting-factor-in-prostate-cancer-cells
The comment by Guest - AssignmentDone is spam. They are just trying to have the url on our page to their site.

https://www.starch-smart.com/science/disease-conditions/item/1-effects-of-a-very-low-fat-high-fiber-diet-on-serum-hormones-and-menstrual-function
The comment by Guest - EssayTigers is also spam. Again, looking to get their url out.

There is actually a "train spam filter" in their API and we plan to add this in the next release of Komento Currently I don't think you can report this to Akismet though.

Wow, I really need the next version of Komento!

Spam is getting through! Their response was for me to mail the messages as spam. :-(
