I remember users search been working in v1.1.5 but after upgrading to ES1.2.3 all I get is "No Records Found"

Is there a new setting for search or a plugin?

Thanks!
Hello,

In EasySocial 1.2, we have decided to remove our own internal search and rely fully on the Smart Search from Joomla. Why did we make the switch? Simply because Smart Search already works with lots of 3rd party extension and we don't have to re-invent the wheel again. An example would be, if you have smart search plugin for K2, Zoo, Articles or anything that is similar, you will then be able to pull up these search results within EasySocial

I have ran the "Index" for you in Smart Search and searching should be a breeze now

Hi Mark,

Is there a way to limit the search results to ES items only, it does not make sense to display joomla articles in the search results when you are in the community.

A search plugin would allow us to use 3rd party extension to limit the search results to ES only.

Hello checksum,

Unfortunately not possible currently Currently it searches everything that is indexed on Finder. Perhaps in the future we could add a settings for this.

Hi Mark,

That's why I recommended creating a search plugin, the same way you have a search plugin for EasyBlog.
This will also allow us to filter on ES items only on the default joomla search page.

If i am browsing the community, and I do a search on an item, it will display all results related to the item from all components on the site, which is a long list.
IE: if I have an album named ABC, and I have many joomla articles that contain ABC, then the search results will display all of them

You need to narrow it down to ES items only.

Hi Mark,

Got it!

Thanks for explaining how search work in v1.2.x, I was kind of surprised yesterday when I was all ready to work on EasySocial and search is not working. I was thinking how on Earth users will find people and make friends if its not working. Now I can go back and customize my own Theme. It's awesome that you guys decided to use LESS and a bonus backend compiler - you are awesome! kudos to you and your team again.

BTW, it was in another thread we talked about not mixing flat icons with shaded one. I just come across Invent Icons released a font icons pack, just in case you're interested.

Thanks again!

Jackson

Thanks for updating Jackson and Thank you for your kind compliments By the way, if you use EasySocial, please post a review for EasySocial at http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/clients-a-communities/communities/25616 . This would most definitely motivate the team

Thank you in advance!

Hi Mark,
I am talking about something similar to your Blog Search Plugin available in the download section.

Hello checksum,

Yes, we have those already See your plugins list under "Finder". You should see 4 finder plugins for Albums, Photos, Groups and Users

Mark, I just installed ES v1.2.3 in our live site and working on modifying Theme when I noticed the Search is not working even after Indexing Finder. I'm not getting any hits.

Can you help me on this please?

Thanks,

Hi Sam,

Thanks for looking at this, unfortunately our website does not have an FTP service. I installed Profiles component so you can see the file system.

Thanks!
