I have a group set up for each state (i.e., California, Texas, etc). I want to add all my members to their respective states, but I have 20,000+ members. Is there a way to do this in bulk?
Hi Brent Williams,

Unfortunately, our current system does not have such settings available for you; however you can always request this feature from our voice
page. http://stackideas.com/voices/easysocial . Thanks for asking in the forums =)

Thanks for the reply. Can you refresh my memory on whether you all do custom work? I doubt this feature would be interesting to enough people to get voted up.

any additional information on this task with the current version of Easy Social.
Can we add bulk members to a group?
Can we default profile types to a group so members do not have to click join?

Hey there,

Can we add bulk members to a group?

Currently, it is impossible to do that at this point of time. It would be best if you could submit your feature request regarding this simply by creating a new ticket on the forums, and set it to "Feature Request".

Can we default profile types to a group so members do not have to click join?

Yes. It is possible to do that. You can go to Backend > EasySocial > Users > Profile Types > select the profile type that you want > go to 'Groups' tab > insert the group that you want. https://take.ms/rAZxe

I did do this in backend and this does not auto add members to the group. Members still have to click join

please advise?

Also, this item was asked several years ago to be added as a new feature. We do not want several email notices being sent out to all member of the group when added. This is why we would like this feature in the backend

Are you referring this part as what my colleague mentioned in his previous reply?
"Backend > EasySocial > Users > Profile Types > select the profile type that you want > go to 'Groups' tab > insert the group that you want. https://take.ms/rAZxe"

If yes, this section only affect when new user register on your site so those new user will automatically join to the group as what you configured from the profile type.

Also, this item was asked several years ago to be added as a new feature. We do not want several email notices being sent out to all member of the group when added. This is why we would like this feature in the backend

Actually we already added this feature, you can manually add new member from backend > Easysocial > Group > edit your group which you would like to add new member > then click on the 'member' button and click add member , you can refer my screenshot here : http://take.ms/VXDhs || http://take.ms/PJR9Q

But that is not possible for you to add 20,000+ members 1 time to the specific group, it might be hit the time out issue.

Unfortunately that is not possible to show all the users, it surely will hang if you display 20,000 users on the same page even Joomla user listing page also not allow to do that.

You can take a look of my attached screenshot below how to configure it to show 500 users per page.

1. Change your 'Default List Limit' to 500 from backend > system > global configuration page.

2. If you do not want to send email notification to your group member who join in the group, you have to temporary disable this alert from backend, you can refer my second screenshot below.

3. I think you better disable this "Show user joined group" stream item from the app, so it will not show these user joined group stream item on the group, you can refer my third and fourth screenshot below.

1) we only have 100 members on this site
2) I thought if I added members to the group by default in the backend, this did not trigger notices?
3) If I add users to the group in the backend, does this place notice in the group or main stream?

FYI...

The global configuration for the system was at 200 and this has no effect on the EasySocial display of users in the add members option

can I modify this file to display 100 members by default in the add members section for groups?

Hm, so strange, may i know which Easysocial version you using now? Is it possible for you to update your site backend and FTP access at https://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so we can better have a check?

1) we only have 100 members on this site
2) I thought if I added members to the group by default in the backend, this did not trigger notices?
3) If I add users to the group in the backend, does this place notice in the group or main stream?

Yes, it will still notify to the group member whoever join the group.
It depend on the group type, if that is public group type, everyone will see this "this user joined the group" stream item. If that is closed/invite group type, it will show this stream item for the group member only.

Hey David,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

I think I can manage to replicate this if you have access your backend Easysocial user listing page, then it will show 20 per page when you click add member from the edit group page.

Can you try download my attached file and replace into this following file location on your site and see how it goes.

JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easysocial/views/users/view.html.php

It should respect your Joomla global configuration page setting.

If the issue still persists, perhaps you can start a new thread on our forum and provide us with your site backend and FTP access so we can better have a check?

Because I just noticed this original thread is not posted by you, so each of our reply will notify to the owner of this post as well.
