Hello,

I have two main categories of blogs, wich are used as landing page from two menu items. So :

- menuItemA is defined as EasyBlog single category on category A;
- menuItemB ... on category B

The two categories have differents themes.

My (double) question :

- is it possible to limit the blog search in the toolbar to the active category (by exemple posts of category A when I'm in index.php/menuItemA);

- is it possible to display the result with the template choosen for the category (actually even if the URL is like index.php/menuItemA/search/searchString, the result is displayed with the default template, and not the one of the categoryA).

Thanks,
Christophe
Hey Christophe,

Unfortunately right now it isn't possible to restrict searches by category / menu item currently.

As for your second question, if you are assigning the template on the menu item, it is not possible unless the post is using the second menu item alias.

Hi,

I too need to restrict searches to categories. We have about 4 different sections of blogs and would like to be able to restrict searches to the categories. At the moment it can be quite difficult to find what you need without have to scroll through lots of results.

Kind regards

Perhaps you can try Joomla smart search module and see is it meet your current requirement.

To achieve this :

1. Go to your backend > module > click NEW > select 'smart search'
2. Publish it on your homepage
3. Try enter your blog title keyword and select which category before you search
