We'd like to let users subscribe to specific blog categories for e-mail notifications. Is it possible?
hey markus,
yes that's absolutely doable. you can enable the category subscriptions in your easyblog backend -> settings -> workflow -> subscriptions
if you're there set "Allow category subscriptions" to YES http://screencast.com/t/Zt7G3FToW

hope that helps but if you have any questions feel free to get back to us at any time. have a nice day

Hi

Thanks for your answer. I see the option but it doesn't seem to have any influence on my page. How do users see they can subscribe to a specific category? Do I need to activate a specific module?

Hello Markus,

The user can which category they subscribe by clicking on their profile setting button located on the far right easy blog toolbar and then click on my subscription as shown in this screenshot http://screencast.com/t/IZ8o3hBa .

When the 'my subscription' is clicked it will lead the user to a page where the list of subscription is shown as shown in this screenshot http://screencast.com/t/hWkFEy1cDyDL

Hope that answers your question

Regards

Hi, it partly answers my question. But I'm actually not talking about registered users with profiles, just normal readers who want to sign up for e-mail notifications of a certain category of blog posts (without having or needing an account on our page). Is that possible too?

Thanks
Markus

Hello Markus,

I believe it can. Have you set this setting? Easyblog backend -> settings -> workflow -> subscriptions
if you're there set "Allow category subscriptions" to YES http://screencast.com/t/Zt7G3FToW .
If yes, then registered or not registered can subscribe blog category by clicking Categories in Easyblog dashboard http://screencast.com/t/fQUe7fuXjJ and then click Subscribe to this category. Here the screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/9W5IXsXhQ .

You can check back category subscription at your backend > Easyblog > Subscription > (Filter by category)

Hope this will help.
Thanks.
