Discussions in EasySocial have nothing to do with EasyDiscuss; They seem to be more like internal mail (or chat ? ). Using a different vocabulary might be advisable.
What kind of integration do you provide between your products ?
I would expect

sharing of profiles : all applications share EasySocial profiles instead of creating their own


Sharing of activity streams, or some form of pârametrable automatic cross publication of activities.


an EasyDiscuss application in EasySocial to provide the bridge


Merge/sharing of tag clouds

Hm, this is odd. It should appear on the stream unless the app for EasyDiscuss isn't published. Also, was the discussions posted in a public category?


For some reason the ED icon appears in the sidebar of my ES profile but not in the sidebar of my ES dashboard. What are the intended use respectively of the profile and dashboard in ES ? What is the logic behind different contents in the sidebars ?

Yes, this is the default behavior because the app doesn't have any actions within the dashboard. It only displays itself in the profile area because other users would want to view what discussions you have created / replied to


The ES toolbar appears in ED. But I still have below a separate ED toolbar. And a separate ED dashboard.

Hm, not really sure what you mean here but you can turn off the ED toolbar from the back end settings of EasyDiscuss under the Layout tab.

Sorry but I don't quite get you here. The EasyDiscuss app for EasySocial is responsible to outpuyt discussions created in EasyDiscuss within a person's profile. It also shares the profile with EasySocial. Not sure what you are referring to here though.

Hi Mark.

I am referring to the app labeled "discussion" in the list of apps. When opened, it shows a "received messages" link and an "archive" link.
So I understand from your answer that there is an Easy Discuss app for EasySocial. where do I find it ? Where is it documented ?

Hi Mark. Sorry, I missed the app store.

I have now installed the EasyDiscuss app successfully in EasySocial. I then found that EasySocial did not appear in ED backend menus, in "login provider options"nor in integrations, Before complaining, I found that I was still running an old ED version on my test site (3.0.8 178)
Installation of ED 3.2.9304 failed with a message instructing me to first upgrade to 3.0.8598 then to 3.1.
When I tried to download ED 3.0.8598 from your site, I have been instructed to please contact support.

What next ?

Hello Paul,

Here's what you need to do

1. Copy the folder /media/com_easydiscuss/attachments/ into /media/attachments/
2. Uninstall EasyDiscuss
3. Download and install the latest version of EasyDiscuss.
4. Move the folder /media/attachments/ back into /media/com_easydiscuss/attachments/

For some reason, the folder you indicate did not exist on my site; So I just uninstalled the old version and reinstalled the latest. Everything seems OK.

Since the French translation for ED was incomplete, especially the backend page relating to EasySocial integration, I went to transiflex and completed translation for all non translated strings. On your site, the French translation for ED is labelled as 100%. However, when I download it, I still get the older version without my complements. Any idea on where and when I can download the result of this effort in order to upgrade my site?

For backend however, lack of translation is not an issue, as long as there is an english value for the string. I noted that for some strings, specifically again in the EasySocia lintegration page of ED backend, the name of the string appears instead of an english language value. I suspect that such undefined strings will not appear in the translation worflow until they are initialized in english. This is annoying because it makes the use of these parameters uncertain.

I therefore can't evaluate if what follows is the result of wrong parameters or bugs.

With all mentionned above I now have some new issues :
