Hi there, this is a question about the easysocial search. Currently it is built into the toolbar of easysocial and this is fine to an extent and becomes a bit confusing when in practice. I notice most templates released now including Stackideas wanderers and JA Intranet and FLY ESMaterial here for example http://cmsfly.com/easysocial/templates/fly-esmaterial all have the search in the top navigation where you would expect to have it and where its used as more of a navigation tool to find people and groups and topics on sites like facebook, twitter and so on. the issue is the search box there is a joomla search and not the easysocial search.

the notifications, email updates and friend requests in these templates all seem to integrate nicely in the top navigation but of course getting the search to work is the main piece of the navigation as having the joomla search in the top and then the ES search in the toolbar underneath is just very confusing currently.

Any tips on getting this to work nicely with say JA Intranet here for example which is a popular one? Any tips here would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Hi James,
Actually that cog button is not the advanced search link. This is how it looks like with the advanced search link enabled(http://take.ms/t3QS3). As you can see, the advanced search link is a link that says 'Advanced Search'.
The button you are referring to actually contains search filters which is placed at the end of the search bar.
From your video, it seems the button is out of place, probably some styling issue. If you do not want to display that button, you can use css to hide it.

Since EasySocial is hooked into the Finder of Joomla, you could replace that search box with the finders search in Joomla. Alternatively, you could place our own search module on their template (not sure if the styling would work automatically).

Hi Mark, thanks for this the styling is generally fine with the ES module in the header of my template however in the ES Module there is a setting that says "Show Advanced Search Link" yes or no and when I turn this to NO it still shows on the frontend like in this video here: http://recordit.co/yujvN2YrCt

Basically the little advanced icon is still appearing and obviously disturbing the look and feel here. Is this an issue with the setting in the module not working? Thanks

Hi Raymond, thanks for clarifying this for me. I think for now I will hide it as the styling as you say is off. For some reason JA Intranet net despite being an Easysocial template decided that the Joomla search module is what they would style here which is a bit of a bizarre decision all things considered!!! Thanks for your time.
