It has been awhile since I last updated and currently I am at version 5.0.41. At first I thought maybe this was the issue because when I tried to install from full it just sets there and spins, so I uploaded the install package to the tmp folder and tried that and it immediately throws this warning:

Error

Please enter a package folder.
Unable to find install package"

Thinking it was a permissions issue I checked the files and folders and they are all correct "644 - 755". I also double checked to make sure the tmp folder was listed properly in the config and it is. Then I thought maybe I had a corrupt download so I downloaded it again. No matter what I have tried the update fails with the above error or just sets there and spins. Nothing in the error log file about it either, its just like the site refuses to recognize the install package.

For grins I tried to install on a few different sites to see if it was this site or its configuration and in all cases it is the same issue.
hey Kevin,

Actually you do not need to manually upload any installer from tmp folder because you can download the full installer from https://stackideas.com/dashboard then upload through your Joomla backend installer page then progress that installation.

If the issue still persists, perhaps you can update your Joomla backend and FTP access at your first post so we can better have a check?

Perhaps you can update your Joomla backend and FTP access at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so I can help you update it now?

I will do that but what is the point of having the ability to do this in the post when I create it if you cannot use it?

Awww yes, I did not give you the secret link to the admin. It is in my account now for you... sorry...

Hm, if without any backend access, that is difficult for us to know why this installation issue not working on your site.

Sorry again, I swear this new Joomla user manager is a joke! I created your user and it was showing as enabled but when I left the manager and went back in it disabled your user. I have enabled it now so you should have no issues getting logged in.

Hey Kevin,

Hm, there is something strange because when I uploaded the installer, the installation proceeds just fine. This is what I did,

1. Went over to the dashboard to download the launcher package

2. Access Extensions Manager and upload the launcher.

3. Clicked on the Proceed with Installation button.

4. Went through the setup process and the site has been updated to 5.1.11 without any issues.

Not too sure why did you encountered those errors earlier though. Did you hit the "Update" button from the back end of EasyBlog or did you went through the same steps above?

I think in the process of you doing that I ran across this:

https://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/setup/common-installation-issues

I went in and dumped the acl table and that is what fixed the issue.

So now I am rebuilding this site from the ground up and I just tried to install it on my dev site on local host and it does the same thing and there are no easyblog tables in the database. What other causes could there be that this installer fails?

Hey Kevin,

Hm, that is strange. Could you provide us with the access to your dev site so that we could try to figure out what the problem is?

Right now I have it running on localhost but will bundle it up and load it up as a sub domain. Will give that a try and install first befor I trouble you and will let you know if I am still having issues.
