I have the latest versions of Joomla and EzB and am looking to add a ShareThis toolbar. But if I go to Settings > Social integrations > ShareThis, I see a blank box for code. All good, but on ShareThis's site, they offer a header and footer code. Not sure which to put in, or if that is the right section at all. Couldn't find documentation on site.

Also, using the other bar, I notice the title of the FB post references the menu item instead of the blog title. Any fix? Please see attachment.
Hi Sam,

I am sorry for the late reply.

Regarding your inquiry, "When I shared a user's post, all I saw was a site URL". I have checked your site and it seems like your blogpost is set to viewable by registered user only and also, your EasyBlog menu is only accessible by registered user. This makes your blog private and only can be accessible by registered user. By the way, Facebook is not a registered user, so this prevents Facebook to crawl in to your site to get the information about the blog. To fix this, you need to make your blogpost public, so, Facebook can crawl into your site.

Hope this helps. If you have anymore question, please do ask us here.
Thanks

Hello Sam,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. You don't really need the "header" or "footer". You just need the sharethis code

As for the issue with the sharing, I am not really sure why it's showing the menu title. Are you sharing this on entry layout or the frontpage layout?

By that, do you mean the username--the string of alphanumeric characters?

Sorry; would you please tell me where FB is getting that picture to post alongside the post I shared? Please see the above screenshot.

Also, may I change the title of the share to the article title?

Hello Sam,

You can see in this file: ../components/com_easyblog/classes/facebook.php on line 95 for the image. As for the title, you can see on line 110. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry, but I get stuck on anything past basic .css. When you start talking OpenGraph, I am lost at the moment. Which image is being called, and is it in the FB app, and how may I change the blog being the title of the post TO the blog post title going on the share?

Hello Sam,

May I know what you are trying to achieve here? The file that I stated before is where Easyblog generate the OpenGraph (OG) tag. The OG is used by facebook to get the details of the page. When you are trying to share the page in Facebook, Facebook will crawl your page for the OG tags.

Thank you. I am looking to have some control over which picture is displayed in the facebook sharer. Now you have told me where the sharer gets the picture, now could you tell me where to insert the tag?

Hello Sam,

Did you mean the tag to insert the title? If so, I've mentioned in my previous reply, you can change the title on line 110:

$doc->addCustomTag( '<meta property="og:title" content="' . $blog->title . '" />' );

to:

$doc->addCustomTag( '<meta property="og:title" content="Your custom title" />' );

Hope this helps.

That's very helpful, but I'd also appreciate info on ensuring the picture associated with the blog entry and the blog page (i.e. the user's specific page) is inserted into the share.

In fact, I would really appreciate your help. When I shared a user's post, all I saw was a site URL.

I would like the share buttons (all) to show the article title, the user blog's name, their photo, and a link back to the article. Could you please assist? I am including backend creds.

Hello Sam,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

The provided url is not valid for me. Can you provide us with the correct site url so we can help you with the requirement? I believe when the blog post is shared to facebook all the information you mentioned above will be shown too except the blogger's name.

I have made the site blog menu item public along with site authors, but FB share only refers to site name and URL in the post. Category permissions also set to public.

Hello Sam,

Did you place the url on Facebook's debugger page at http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug ? This is so that Facebook would clear the cache of the site / url.

If you are still facing issues despite clearing the cache, kindly please start a new thread on our forums
