Hi,

I am just about to install Komento on my new Joomla 3.2 site, (which has been upgraded and merged from three old Joomla 1.5 sites, two of which had jComments on them) and need to import and MERGE the comments from two of the old Joomla 1.5 websites.

Can this be done please and if so is it as simple as using the import feature twice - once for each old Joomla 1.5 website?

If the two old website jComment importing is successful, I am sure a few of the comment will end up either being connected to the wrong article or to non-existing article because during the process of merging my three old Joomla 1.5 sites into a singe Joomla 3.2 site, some of the article ID numbers were changed. Would it be simply a matter of changing the relevant article ID numbers in the Komento tables in cPanel's phpAdmin please?

Thanks,

Andy
Hello Andy,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes actually you can import the comments in each of the J1.5 site and bring it over to the J3.2 site. I'm not sure how you are merging it but please make sure the id of the article associated with the comments in Komento will be changed accordingly when you merge.

Also yes you can just access the comments table and change the ID of the associated comments to link it back to the articles. Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Thanks very much Adelene,

Can the importing be done if the old Joomla 1.5 site is in a different location/directory, even though it's on the same localhost please? If not, how would I get the jComments data into my new Joomla 3.2?

A different question if I may ask you, can a email be sent to the Administrator each time a new comment is written and the administrator can click Publish or Delete to decide if the comment as allowed to appear on the wedsite, to stop offensive comments (its a church website)?

Thanks,

Andy

Hi,

1. Yes the import can be done even if it is on a different location/directory. The import is actually not done from the "location" or "directory", but it is done through database tables.

2. Yes you can configure this in Komento -> Integrations -> Select Component -> Notifications.
