Hello,

I hope all is well to the EasyBlog geniuses

After updating to 5.0.43 of EasyBlog all images are now showing on the frontage of my blog. Before the update my blog had all settings not to show images on the frontpage but after the update the images started to show.

I have all settings set to "off" not to show images. But somehow the images are showing. Could you help? And let me know what settings to check. Thanks.

Just as an FYI - I uninstalled the 5.0.43 version and went back to 5.0.42.because it was breaking my SSL that is why I have images turned off. I don't know why the images started to appear after the upgrade to 5.0.43 on the front page even though I had the settings turned off but I have attached screenshots to show you.

Regards,
Rob :
Thanks for your understanding Rob We will keep you update on this.

Hi Rob,

Have you check the truncation's setting yet?
1. Click Settings>Layout>Truncation : https://www.screencast.com/t/fHGcJsdmT7

Hi Muhammad Fadhli,

Thank you so much for getting back to me. Yes all those settings are the same as the screenshot you provided. I just didn't want to post a lot of screenshots to the post.

I made sure that the frontpage images were not being displayed in all the settings. Thank you again and I might do a clean install to see if that matters. Tell all the great people at stackideas I said hello!

Regards,
Robert

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Perhaps you can try update to 5.0.44 version and see how it goes? Because we have reverted back one of the feature where HTML styling can appear on the listing page even truncation setting is enabled.

Because this will causing a lot of issue so we decide remove that feature and remain same behaviour from previously, it might be solve your issue.

Can you give it a try?

Awesome Arlex,

How are you. I installed version 5.0.44 but and this is great news - but the only thing I found is that eBay ads are the only RSS feed that will show up on the frontpage. Please see image. I checked the feed importer and I have the Import image as post cover off.

That is odd because all the other images do not show. Rest up it is the weekend, this could wait and I am grateful for your reply. You are the best support team in the Universe!

Rob

Hello Rob,

I have inspected your site and tried viewing the "Tech Deals" category. It seems like these are actually part of the content and it isn't a post cover.

The only way around this right now is for you to enable truncation by characters on the listings and configure EasyBlog to not display images on the listings.

Hi Mark,

So good to hear from you. I hope all is well. I have attached my settings. You will see that the settings have all images off and from the screenshot that it works in 5.042. I hope this helps.

On a test site I have 5.0.42 with these settings and the eBay images do not show. Please see screenshot and settings.

Test site: https://deals.techlick.com

Thank you for your time and I am grateful for your response.

Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Is this the correct settings file from your site? seems like as I import it some of the setting is not according to your setting in the screenshots and its using nickel theme
Can you give us the content that image still appear in the listing? so we can replicate it in our local?
or perhaps you can give us your test site access with the content included, so we have a better view on this

Hello,

Your support is the best! Yes I do have the nickel theme with 1 column. I am using a RSS feed importer from eBay and I list it below. I also have attached a screenshot of the settings for that feed. I could take out the <img> tag from the feed importer settings but then the image will not show up on the post at all.

Thank you for your reply and have an awesome day.

Hi Rob,

I've replicate this issue locally seems there is a bug when you choose 'Truncate type- word' even-though you've set 'Position of images after truncation-Do not show items on frontpage' .
Can you change the truncate type to 'paragraph' or 'character' and see how it goes?
I've logged this issue in our issue tracker and our developers will take an action for this

Thanks for understanding.

Hello Fadhli,

Thanks again for your reply. I am going to leave it with the image showing for now as I tried with various truncation settings but it just does not work correctly. I don't mind the images for now because at least my viewers will get to see an image. But I will wait for a fix and please let me know when this is completed.

I am grateful for your efforts.

Regards,
Robert

I tested it and it does appear to be truncation as I adjusted the characters and words until the image disappeared. But for feeds with no images the truncation does not look good - only for feeds that are from eBay does the feed look okay. So I will close the ticket until a fix is in place. Thanks again for all your replies!
