Regarding the above, you can actually turn off the setting in EasyBlog 5.0. To do this, go to your Joomla backend under Menu manager and look for the menu item that you created for your EasyBlog frontpage and in the menu edit page under Posts tab, you can disable the option 'Show Post Image Placeholder'.
