Hello - I have noticed that since the upgrade to the latest version the embed gallery on my old posts isn't working anymore. It just shows the code. Here is an example. [embed=gallery]{"uri":"user:1000/2017/10Mar"}[/embed]

I notice you no longer give the option to create a gallery for the whole folder from the editor. Is this is what is causing this? Really don't want to go back through old posts to change this. Example page is below - scroll to very bottom,

https://www.cyclingtouring.org/articles/site-posts/entry/cycling-the-baja-divide

One other thing with images. When adding images to posts and using the media area to select the image. When you go back into the media area to select your next image for another part of the post, it doesn't remember where you were last and makes you scroll through the folders again. Before the upgrade it always remembered. Can this be put back in?

Please let me know on both issues.

thanks Pete

Yes, insert as gallery feature still exist in Easyblog 5.1.x, you can check my screenshot here : http://take.ms/VgxYP
I've tried to replicate this issue in my locally upgrade from 5.x to 5.1.6, but it seems work fine for me.
May i know what is your previous Easyblog version you trying to upgrade to 5.1.6?

And can you provide us with your following details so we can check further on this issue?
1. backend protected area login credentials
2. PHPMYADMIN access

Yes, that was not possible now, because we already revamped this media manager structure in Easyblog 5.1.
Do you mean when you insert an image into blog post through the media manager, then when you trying to add another new image, when you click on "Add media"" button, you would like to show the previous image what you insert before?

Hello - thank you for the reply.

On gallery issue. I can see the insert gallery option is there, but I notice it now makes you select each image. Previously I could set it to display the whole folder, which is what I did on my old posts that no longer show the gallery. they just show the [embed] code. I cannot remember the version I went from, but I was updated within a day or two of your releases, so would have been the last update before this big upgrade.

The second issue - I mean that it doesn't remember the last location you were in when inserting images. It makes you navigate the folders each time you add an image on a post. just a little annoying when previous version remembered the last location you navigated to.

I have enabled your login again to get into the backend.

cheers Peter

Hello Peter,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Please find my response below:

Hm, looking at the codes, there should still be backwards compatibility for galleries which was created with a folder. Tested this on my local instance. I tried to connect to the SFTP that you have provided but it doesn't seem to be working for me. Can you please advise?

I see, I get what you mean here. Will try to get this behavior restored into the next release of EasyBlog.

Hello Peter,

Strange, it is still not allowing me to connect, http://take.ms/G7O4w . I tested it with, sftp, ftp, ftp with implicit ssl and ftp with tls / ssl and they are all returning the same errors

Do I need to add any ip addresses on my local hosts file?

Hhhmm weird. Tried using your account and it works for me

Anyway, I have re-entered the password again into my profile page, just in case I forgot last time when I updated the host and username. No host file change required.

Try one more time. If no good, I'll try setting up another account.

thanks Pete

Hello Pete,

Hm, really odd as it is still not working for me, http://take.ms/PZUFS . Could it be that your hosting provider is blocking our ip address?

Hi Mark - There are no IP blocks setup... I have updated the FTP details again - the host is different (not using cpanel host name, try via primary domain). Also changed password, just in case something with that.... Tested on my PC and works fine.

If that doesn't work, is there something in particular you want to check? I can do it for you.

Good luck! :-)

cheers Pete

Hello Peter,

Can you give this a try again? It seems like one of the 5.1.x releases earlier had a bug where the data isn't cached correctly. To fix this, I have ran the following codes on the site,

update #__easyblog_post set `version`='5.0.44’;

This ensures that when the post is rendered, it will re-cache the proper output. Just for your information, from 5.1 onwards, to improve performance on EasyBlog, we now pre-process the posts and store the cached copy rather than processing it on the fly.

Brilliant thank you for your help Mark. Looks good. Any chance of getting the add a gallery using a folder option back in, rather than selecting each image? Caters for lazy people :-)

thanks Pete

Hello Peter,

Hm, the main reason that we removed that functionality was primarily because it was confusing to some of these site owners as some of their users doesn't know that "Insert as Gallery" would work for images only. They thought that anything and everything on the folder would be rendered in the gallery

I will see if we could try to add this back into 5.1.8 as we are now getting ready to push 5.1.7 to get rid of several annoying bugs.
