Hello

I'd like to talk about 2 things I saw on the composer. The first thing is the image caption. I'd like to know if there is any way (Through CSS maybe?) to put the caption on the right of the pic. I put an example on the attachments. On the top, the actual caption. On the bottom, what I'm trying to get.

The second thing is about some blogs that allow to put some pics on a post. Let's take the "image" block. When you add it on the composer, you can put an image using an url, the media manager, or directly by uploading it. If you use the gallery/thumbnails block though, you can only upload. While I don't think it would be easy to manage a gallery/thumbnail block with a lot of external url, would it be possible to use pics on the media manager?
Hey Philidia,

Unfortunately right now captions could only appear on the bottom of the post. To put it on the right using css, is going to be tricky especially on mobile views .

As for using images for galleries, this is something that we are exploring in the near future. To be honest with you, EasyBlog composer is an over-engineered creature. I have to admit, we spent nearly 2 years developing and it still doesn't feel right yet.

There is a possibility that we are going to change the default editor in EasyBlog 5.1 onwards in the near future.

I'll be honest, I found a lot of details that I'd like to send you on a feedback bag (positive & negative). There are some bugs that occur randomly, some problems related to ergonomy (I'm about to post a new thread related to image resizing on the image block), etc...

Yeah, that's a bit hard to deal with all those issues as a user, especially when I loved how the 3.9 EB worked, since we lost some of his awesome features (Did some threads about it). But eh! Don't throw everything just because the first attempt didn't end like you expected. The composer remains a great idea, and has a lot of cool features. We're already using EB5 on our production website, and people seems to like it. 2 years of developpement is huge, and I hope you'll make it better and better over the time.

Sure, there are things to improve. But after all, we spend a lot of time on life to improve everything

Anyway, I think I can find a trick if I use a pic on a text block

Hey Philidia,

Thanks for your input on this. To be honest, the composer is actually pretty far off from what we really wanted it to be but there are just too many hurdles especially dealing with multiple different browsers and mobile as well.

We went through almost 16 different iterations of the composer over the past two years and playing around with a dozen of different editors. I have to be honest, I think browser's these days are not ready for prime time yet, especially those that are still on the dark side (Internet Explorer)

Heck, even debugging on IE is a PITA! haha . Everytime I need to fire up my Parallels, I just get the chills

Anyway, I sincerely appreciate your input on this and our plan for 5.1 onwards is to go back to where we initially started with EasyBlog 1.x and start over with simplicity in mind.

Lesser javascripts would reduce the load of the browsers too.

So, you'll remove the composer on the next version? Does it means that if I have another issue / find another bug on it, I shouldn't make a thread about it? Also, does it means you'll just keep a writing page similar to EB 3.9?

That's a bit sad to hear. Easyblog is a big piece of awesomeness on Joomla, and you worked very hard on this new version. It's probably to early to talk about it, but I hope you'll keep some features from EB 5.0, like some blocks that are very useful (note, quote, etc... They're basics but very cool)

Well, Microsoft is slowly stopping his support on the older versions of IE. Is it still necessary for you to keep working on it?

Hey Philidia,

We plan to keep what we have but the current composer would be for "Advanced" users. By default they are rendered using the 3.9 style With a flick of a switch, the editor pops up like what you have now.

Well, even if Microsoft does stop IE 6, 7, 8 and 9. There are still quite a number of users who are using them

Firefox is also very bad with memory handling!

Ok, good to know

Keep up the good work. The composer may be not perfect, but I don't think someone would say that you didn't work a lot on it

I think it's a part of why people love what you guys are doing

Thanks Philidia, at least there are users like yourself who appreciate what we did You should read back at those forum posts of users who were complaining about the new composer

I often do!
When I'm facing any issue, I try to find if someone already talked about it to see if I'm not doing something wrong, or if it is a known issue. And yeah, sometimes, people are angry. But I really think that like a lot of communities, most people are just using your products, and are happy with them, so you won't hear them a lot.

Hehe, yeah I guess so too. The dark side always wins Thanks for your input on this and we'll see how this goes after we push ED 4.0 and ES 2.0 out
