I wish that the nickel template could support single column views as well as two or more column views.

I use nickel for my site and use two columns by default but I have a few menus based on tags or categories that so far only have one items and they would look better as one column.

Example: https://www.drcarney.com/gems/womens-health-success
Hey there,

It seems like that page is under single tag layout, I already applied that fix in this file -> /httpdocs/components/com_easyblog/views/tags/tmpl/tag.xml , it should work fine now.

Hey Sean,

Thanks for your suggestion, but currently we do not have this 1 columns option from the Nickel layout setting is because this theme is suppose to show 2 columns by default and made this theme is different with other theme as well.

If you really want to display 1 columns in Nickel, you can always send us a request to perform the customisation for you at https://crm.stackideas.com, Our sales person would be glad to send you a quote for the customisations that you have requested.

Thanks for the reply Arlex,

Is there a way that I could use a different theme just on the pages that need one column?

If I was to pay for a 'customization' would it then become part of the EasyBlog core going forward? That is really the only way that I like to customize. ie. When it is an improvement for me AND everybody else. :-)

I think it would be a great improvement. Then Nickel could be for multiple columns as it was designed but could also allow for the occasional single column layout. For example in the case maybe of FAQs.

Try download my attached file (extract the file) and replace into this following file -> JoomlaFolder/components/com_easyblog/views/categories/tmpl/listings.xml

Hello Arlex,

I am assuming the file you gave me was to enable me to select one column in the options for the Nickel template?

I did install the file but it did not seem to make a difference?

I tried to edit the Menu item for Gems -> Women's Health Success

I then selected the Theme tab and was hoping that the pull down menu would now have a 1 in the pull down menu.

Anyhow, if I am wrong about what this file was for please let me know.

Hello Sean,

You shouldn't install this zip file. You should extract the zip file and upload it into /components/com_easyblog/views/categories/tmpl/ and overwrite the listings.xml file.

Thank you Mark,

I am sorry that I did not explain with better language. But, I did actually do exactly as you have instructed. :-)

I believe the site details for this site are probably accurate if you wanted to try to change the file there. Otherwise I, of course, am very happy to that with any file you provide me. I am excited about this because my FAQs will make more sense in an single column as well some selected areas and areas that only have one entry.

Now I TOTALLY love the Nickel theme. I can now have some sections with one column, some sections with two columns and some sections with 3 columns. This is going to be fantastic.

BTW, there is a pretty small but in the interface that you may want to fix but it isn't absolutely necessary.
)

For the Tags views the option to use the Inherit from global settings is missing. So, i starts with 1 instead of starting with Inherit from global settings.

This is certainly nothing that makes the software not work for me but I suspect you will want all types of layouts to be consistent.

I am so happy with this. (In case I did not tell you already! :-)

Thanks for your feedback Sean

I already submit a ticket in our codebase, will add all the different view and the global setting to have 1 columns option, this will be available in next release version.

As a gentle reminder, kindly start a new thread if you have any other issue in the future so it will be easier for us to manage your inquiry. I will lock and mark this thread as resolved.
