Correct me if i'm wrong, your issue is about the updater, right? If so actually that updater only work from the version 3.9xxx update to 3.9xxx or 3.9xxx update to 4.0xxx or above, if you update from 3.8xxx to 3.9xxx, that updater is not work. You have to go download the latest version of Easyblog from here http://stackideas.com/dashboard , then upload/install from your Joomla backend > Extension Manager

It is important to take note that upgrading from major releases from versions 3.8.x or lower to 3.9.x, requires a manual upgrade via the Extension Manager. It is not possible to do this via the Updater. Please be rest assured that the normal upgrade process will not erase your blog posts or settings. Hope this help.
