Every time a user tries to register I am getting an SMTP error and a warning that the registration failed.
I have tried multiple times to ensure that the server settings are the same as my admin on joomla, but I am not sure what the problem still is.

The reason that you are hitting SMTP errors is actually because your mail settings is incorrect. Please ensure that the mail settings in your Joomla's Global Configuration is setup correctly. If you are unsure of the correct settings, you should consult this with your mail provider
